I think several factors led to me giving up on the Full Tilt GT II. The biggest one was that it was not titled, and was told by Highway Patrol inspection person that it would probably be impounded if I did not have every receipt for every part when trying to get a title. The next big factor in this project failing was that it was not my wife's idea. The continuous turmoil over the car greatly assisted in my son and I losing interest in it. Once I realized that the car was going to be a pain in the butt to title, I decided to start modifying it to give my son some good experience, with the goal never being to complete the car, but to have something to engineer/play with for my son's "education". I gave that car to an acquaintance who apparently passed it on, or passed parts of it on. It was a lot of fun working with Gary on the tilt front end, and being a part of this big Bradley family!

Also you should ensure that your rotted frame/template is not warped, bowed, or sagging. If it is, your new fabbed tubing will be welded in the same exact shape. I would tack everything at first so it won't be too hard to undo welds and rework the metal if needed. I had to redo welds several times to get the frame just right. IMO

Hey thanks Gary! You'll have to check out our kayaks on Facebook.
Vallyr the thing to consider when raising the body location is the steering column and wiring under the dash. The steering column mounts to the body, so if the body is raised it is raised. The rag joint won't like it. You may have to obtain the two u-joint adapter shaft deal. The wiring may be tight already where it goes to the rest of the car. If you totally rewire then it should not be an issue. IMO

The edge is angle iron from Lowes.
The metal is 1/8 inch I believe.
I lowered the whole pan because I did not like the feeling of having my feet higher than my butt while driving a car. We will make custom pedal assembly when we start on it again.
Those Ts are braces to stop the warp sound when you step on the pan.
I widened the pan so I can put any seat width I like in it. Yep the holes don't line up. We are widenng the GT II's body mount flange too.
Once all welding (seat brackets and rear tilit framing) is done on the pan, we will POR 15 it again.
I have lots of fiberglassing to do, and I still have to make the tilit rear end framing on the chassis. Right now we are in a lull. Been kayaking instead.
I have a boatload of vids I can repost on the whole project. I can't seem to find any of them on here? I have a few threads on TheSamba message board for kit cars that have the vids but they have been buried way down the list.

We are still here. Been slowly working on the rear roll bar, but ran into a snag. The material is really thick and my welder is not beefy enough to easily do what I want with it at current garage temps. I have to grind channels in the seams and reweld several places after the sledgamatic testing produced a few cracks. Also had to save up cash for a cruise to the Bahamas and for Christmas so the Twoie is on hold. The cruise ship had a kit car on board. Something called a Morgan?

Many people on here are doing away with that gasket and fiberglassing the top to the body.

I parted out an SB. Thought about using the struts, but shortening them somehow. It appeared that the struts would make the car ride too high up front. Is it the one in the pic that is high in the front?

Please post some pics of the front suspension of the one with Super Beetle chassis. Need to know if they incorporated the struts somehow.

Worked on the rear roll bar today. Cut openings in the bottom of the body so the roll bar will contact the chassis directly. That steel will be fastened to the body inside that bulkhead so when the body comes off again so will the roll bar once everything is unbolted. Started on the top section of the roll bar too. Got one piece tacked on. Started kerfing a bend for the passenger side top bend. Will weld and grind it all smooth. Mashed my finger real good too! Had a saw kick back and mash my finger into the roll bar as I was trimming some fiberglass off of the body.

That's a good one Gary! I'll have to use that one on my wife concerning extra padding. I once told my rear seated passengers in my normal car that my car was equipped with a passenger side airbag, it took my wife, who was sitting in the passenger's seat, a few minutes to realize that the car only had an airbag in the steering wheel. She can punch pretty hard!

Glenn,
Mine had several. The big thing is that one of those numbers matches what is on the title. I would eliminate the other ones that do not match the title. IMO
