Here is a very sad case. Many of you may remember Rod Stone Bradley GTII Flip front end back in 2009. I do, as it was the reason I Flipped the front & rear of my Yellow GTII. This show up on the Bradley Facebook link & after 600 mile drive to Ohio, 2 hours to load it up & 15 hours later, it's now here in Knoxville TN. He did alot of work on this & I always wondered what happen to it & him. Two of his old video showed back up on YouTube in April, but that was it, no more word about about it. It's in bad state & not sure what I will do with it as yet. Sorry to report the W/S had a 6" crack in the lower left corner, other wise in good cond. It's sitting outside in the rain still on the trailer. Here are the pictures from Facebook & I knew what & where it came from right away. here are the two old video www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0vPkrJlM5Uwww.youtube.com/watch?v=o0vPkrJlM5UGary Hammond did alot & very good machine work making the 2 front flip hinge plate. By the way, it still works & flips with the elec. ram. Look what I found on You Yube, YouTube is GREAT!!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr9Gojvt6ENow to see if I can find someone here in Knoxville.

Hi Skip, Glad to see you were able to get together with Rob and rescue his project! I think he lost interest in it when his son wanted to move on to other things. He had a lot of big ideas for it, and did a lot of work on it. Did you get all the engines and parts from Rob as well? I would love to see this project completed into a drivable, showable car since I also have some time invested in it. Gary Hammond,

Sorry, it went from someone to the guy I got it from. Don't know how long ago. Would help to see if he has or can get the papers for the frame. Good to hear he's still a round.
Yes did get the red engine & black Trans, they said it had been rebuilt. Saw Rod take the engine apart w/ son, but that's it. Any history on this.
Not sure which way to go w/this yet.

Found 2 more post on The Samba Site & it looks like he stopped soon after working on the rear roll bar. It's a shame that everything has gotten rusty. Won't be able to get it off the trailer for a few more day due to the rain, could never get my trunk out of the hilly back yard. Look like the frame got finished less the rear shocks.

What was the purpose of the flip up nose? Was it done for storage purpose?

What was the purpose of the flip up nose? Was it done for storage purpose? Not sure, "just to do it" to proof you can. Also looks like he was putting a Super bug gas tank in it. You don't need to have a purpose all the time, just make it fun. 8-)Gets a lot of looks at the gas station also.

While I always appreciated Rod's enthusiasm I think his build holds an important lesson for many first time builders.
If your plan is to drive the car then build it first. Once you have mastered that, and you enjoy the car, modify it later. If building cars is your hobby and you just enjoy the process then modify all you want.
Rob fell into the all to common position of having grand ideas without having the time/money/resources and continuing ambition to finish.

I saw this on facebook when it first got posted and thought it was a front engine project that got abandoned. its nice to hear the history of this car, and I know its in good hands now. question is, what Subaru engine is going into this one?

Sorry to report, but this GTII is in really bad shape & not half of it there, will be selling for parts. NO W/S (cracked)or GLASS Let me know if anyone needs body parts (getting cut up). Dash is already cut out & have only one seat. One pass. door & half driver door. The frame is really nice rebuilt front & rear w/disc brake, thou a little rusty. Down floors & widen a few inches for more seat space. '72 VW engine & rebuilt '73 - 4 speed w/duel side cases.

I think several factors led to me giving up on the Full Tilt GT II. The biggest one was that it was not titled, and was told by Highway Patrol inspection person that it would probably be impounded if I did not have every receipt for every part when trying to get a title. The next big factor in this project failing was that it was not my wife's idea. The continuous turmoil over the car greatly assisted in my son and I losing interest in it. Once I realized that the car was going to be a pain in the butt to title, I decided to start modifying it to give my son some good experience, with the goal never being to complete the car, but to have something to engineer/play with for my son's "education". I gave that car to an acquaintance who apparently passed it on, or passed parts of it on. It was a lot of fun working with Gary on the tilt front end, and being a part of this big Bradley family!
