went to the beginning of the thread saw you built the console it looks incredible a true work of art going to do one for my avenger also that and maybe an overhead map light console from a 1968 mustang thinking maybe keyless entry no handles all electric with a backup cable to open the door in the engine compartment

Yes, I built the console. It is a luan base with some fiberglass.
I also moved the shifter and ebrake back about 8".
On my Avenger at least, the locking mechanism was in the door and the striker was on the frame. That would not work with a cable in the engine compartment. You would have to relocate the locking mechanism into the body for a cable to work in the door.

yeah mine is identical to what you started with will get something figured out on it, i thought the console was factory excellent job on it hell i would pay you to make one for me if you have the time . measured the mustang overhead console/map light may have to cut 5' off it to make it fit but would look cool up there, i think i saw your car on the avenger site also remember those door panels and the vette handles outstanding work hope mine turns out half as good Bob did that on the bradley i got from him moving the shifter back makes it easier to shift for us tall people will do that on the avenger also and you dont hit the dash when you shift.
