Hey skip, ive been watching this post since I joined! and ive always had the question, how do you shift and is your gas on the handle bars? or what.... ive just kinda always been curious I have a EMPE short shifter on the tunnel in front of the seat. Gas & Clutch are on the motorcycle handlebars. Should have left the clutch on the foot pedal I had before! OK, finally dragged it outside & sanded the inside body lip down & had to sand off the rubber carpet tape also. Well fiberglass the inside with 3 layers of 1.5oz mat at 2"-4" & 6" to join the body to the new glass work I did on the outside. So here is a little surprise I though of 2 days ago. There will be next to no storage as I removed the saddle bags. So using the saddle bag idea,, I cut out a door on the rear fender on both side to make storage space like the bags. The Trike is back from the VW Dr. & runs great. This was a NEW 1835 engine I found in the junk yard & it does have a mild cam in it also. Added the Alt. & duel 40 carbs, & replace the 1 & 2 jugs & rings.

Ok Skip.... I see that you called yesterday... Had been working on Expedition all day... Just a quick question but why did you cut into the side?!! That's just more body work I get to look forward to! Ha HA!
(Personally I would change out the tail lights. I'm tired of seeing school bus parts)
Have a good one! Eddie

Skip, You will have to limit the amount of weight that you store in your storage compartments. Otherwise, you will have even more trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground. I like the idea of adding storage. That is one thing the Bradley didn't offer much of.

Laid up only 2 layer on mat due to the size over the joints. Here you may be able to see the 1/2" Square tubing I added to brace the body to flip it up. finished the welding on it & added some paint so it wouldn't rust. It's popped riveted to the body & goes up into the seating area. Next on the list is to build the inside lips for the storage doors on the sides.

OK, tried to avoid it, but guess it need to get done, so here it is! Hope 1 or 2 of you guys & dolls can make use of it. I don't think anyone will be cutting up thair fenders, but here's an easy way to make a lip for a door. Using 3/8" form cut 2" wide, I mounded it around the edge of the storage door with the carpet tape. Then rounded over the inside edge with sandpaper & made the bottom slope down & out to drain the rain water. Covered it with the Brown wrapping tape. Slipped in back in the hole I made in the fender & tape it on the outside to hold it in place. Then starting with 2" wide mat, glassed it in around the corners with the strand hanging over the rounded corners, then finishing it up with 2 more layer of 4" mat. Rolled it out to get any bubble out of it. Two important tools to spend $8.00 each on are the 2 rollers sitting on the shelf. Will pop the door off tomorrow & trim the new shelf to hold the rubber seal. Then mount & glass in the hinges to both doors & add the mailbox locks which are keyed alike. Will add plywood or fiberglass to finish off the box inside. Will silicone around the tail light cut to seal it in there. NOTE: last picture you can see were the plywood had been cut to clear the tail light housing, OH NO!!! it's not sealed & water can get in there & now you have WOOD ROT!!!!!

Back to work! Trimmed the lip down for the seal. tried some form seal & then this door weather seal from a car. If I use this one will need to trim the lip a little more. Then cleaned up the edges & tape the door back on. Mixer up some cabasil power into a paste with resin & used it to mount the hinges inside. Note the 1/4" rod between the two hinges to keep them in line. Vest grips to hold till cured. Will add mat around the mount after they are cured.

Added some mat around the hinge plates. Also added some more of the paste to round over the edges & glassed them when the paste was still wet. Will be sanded down at the joints & painted so they don't rust.

Well, I screwed up & put the hinges to close to the lip & it hits the lip, so the door will only work this much. After thinking about it for a day, drilled a new hole in the middle of the body mount, cut the arm off & tacked it back on. So now the door will open wider. Taped up the tail light housing & getting ready to glass a lip lip it so it will be sealed. Then start to build the box. You can see the mail box locks have been installed also. The body is now sitting on it's top & leveled it so the seat area is level.

Started to shape out the sides of the box. Lucky I remembered that the plywood inner fender sits on the frame, so added a 1" x 2" spacer there. Will lay up some mat on a board & do about 3-4 layers to get the floor made.

Extending the door side hinge you cut off would give you more travel with the doors. looking great

Skip makes it look soooo easy. I tried doing some glassing work myself on my rear engine cover, it did not come out the way I wanted it to after several tries. I asked the wife if we could move to within a few miles of Skip...that was not a good idea either. Still have a bruise from that idea.

Air Brakes, now there's a cool idea! Body & floor back on the VW Trike & in the garage. Here the body is in the flipped up air look.

Found these rev. light laying around in the garage, so though I would put them on the Bradley Trike which has no bumper. You can see the light sitting in the tail light hole (think it's a GM model) And all the tools I used to cut the hole. 4.5 cutoff wheel, 4.5 sanding disc & air powered scroll saw from HF. There is a VERY small lip on the edge which fits flush to the body. Don't know what to do about the other 2 holes, maybe a light or something. Here is the VW hood catch which I'm modifying to fit the rear engine cover. Have trimmed the sides & cut the cup off of it, will mount it under the body with a new plate on top to cover up the old screwed holes. Also installed a lighter spring on the catch so as not to damage the fiberglass but will still pop the lid open. More to come on this later.

Will, here it is, the VW Hood catch & latch mounted in the back of the Bradley GTII. Still needs the face plate made, but work really well & pops open when released. May just do this for the other GTII I have laying around here!

Run exhaust out of the rear bumper holes, Roll bar is purely cosmetic. Don't have it any higher than the handlebars or it will just look wrong.
