Well, they're not new, but I have a set off my '74 you can have for shipping cost. I'll see if I can find them and get a couple photos posted on here for you.

Hi Tom, If you can upload some photos so we can help you findout what exactly you have, it could be helpful on your way to getting it onthe road. Check out the thread for "window instulation" from a few days back, the last post there has a link showing how to post photos here.

Welcome to the family Hellraisergt2, always nice to see someone new to our addiction, uhh I mean distraction from reality... Looking forward to seeing more posts from you, and if you have any questions at all, there is an abundant amount of knowledge from others who have tried, failed, and conquered various ideas and issues, along with a lot of information in the archives in the SEARCH area.

jman, I see you have posting photos down now. Photobucket isn't the only option, I upload my photos to facebook then I don't have to pay for photobucket, then repost the link here. [ i m g ] paste the link you just copied here [ / i m g ] without spaces between anything. if the address is from a secure site "https" you will need to remove the s. - anything you use from facebook will have the secure "s" in it. ~also check out this on how to post other things here as well bradleygt.proboards.com/thread/1371/posting-links-pictures-youtube

That looks 97% like what I am thinking if I can find a GTII somewhere nearby!

It might be easier just to get myself a B-GTII and just combine the 2 in a way I like. That is, I like the lines in the B-GT, but also the easy access of the B-GTII. Time to do some cut and paste on the computer and get a general idea of what would be the best option.

Good news, Dr doesn't think I need surgery after all, but has me using a different brace for now and has me setup with physical therapy. This new brace alone feels much better than the other one I was using.
~ Horen2tas, I'm thinking open out like a normal car door, maybe suicide doors... ~ Jeff, I would be doing this on my other B-gt which is still In a lot of pieces waiting for me to rebuild the chassis anyway. I have about 1/2 of the main parts I need to make a square tube frame with a 2" pan drop along with a 2" body lift... Diamond plate floors, along with a lot other various handling upgrades. When I have the parts I think I want on hand, I'll start the build then. ~ Smyrnaguy, yes, thinking somewhat like a gt40, but electric or crank windows with T-tops or convertible top which would be another barrel of caos.

I have recently suffered a double torn minscuis, fractured patella, and a few floating bone chips cutting tendons in (around) my left knee. So now that I have such a limited amount of activity that I can do until I get an operation, it has me thinking of the coming years and how much I really want to keep my Bradley and what I will need to do.
The best idea I can come up with is to create a tube frame to attach the body to to elimate body flex when I cut out a section for the door and finish off each side like skip did for the B-GTII trike. Using hinges and latches from something at the local salvage yard, and possibly power windows from the back door of a 4door.
Has anyone else tried something like this, and if so what issues did you have? And a question for the masters of fabrication on here, what suggestions do you have for me if I do go for it?

Someone didn't like the owner prior to you and poured gas in the oil fill... If the engine would have gotten hot enough,it might have blown the block.
My neighbor did something similar a few years back when he was junking a car. He drained the antifreeze, and refilled the cooling system with gas, and set the car on jack stands and let it keep running till it blew. Blew the engine, trans, radiator to pieces - in about a 50 yard radius

I only use facebook for my photos to upload here. Whats your name rtmaxaz? I'll look up your profile and re-post the photos here for you. One quick sidenote, I have to upload my FB photos on one profile and access them from another in order to get a shortened web address, then when i post it, I have to take out the "S" in the https:// in order for them to show up here. I ran in to the same issue myself until I discovered the trick.

ok, back to mercer77's topic. I would recommend finding a way to add a little more weight to the front end. The a/c unit components that you can move up front would help some, but also you may want to look into adding more additional weight somehow. You have very little downforce on your front end and the front brakes may not grab the way they were designed to with the heaver Bug body. I don't know about anyone else, but I also have issues with the front end lifting off the ground if I'm going over 73mph (or mid 60s if my headlight flaps are closed).

Hello pleasehelp, The gull wing doors have this issue of cracking and needing to be re-supported more often than not. They are made so that they may be taken off and reinstalled in the blink of an eye,and when you do take them off and set them somewhere, you have to make sure they are somewhere safe otherwise they are prone to get damaged. Considering that they are nearly 40 years old, you could do a little modifying to them and be just fine. There are numous posts on here talking about just the doors and what others with this issue have done to repair, or replace them. And yes most of them do have the dark smoked plexiglass, and unless you plan on doing a lot of nighttime driving, it really is nice. Its not as dark on the inside as what you think it would be. The new battery IS a bonus, that will save you around 100 right off the bat! Most batteries cost 75-140 depending on where you go. tires are typically 65-200 depending on the brand of tire. And the motor does run! that in its self is worth 1000+! Lights could simply be a blown fuse or pulling out the wrong toggle switch. I have 2 Bradleys, one of them has a toggle switch that you pull back one click and it turns the park lights on, and pull back a second click and the headlights come on; the other I have to pull one swithc out to turn the park lights on, and then pull a second one for the headlights,8 and a third for the bright... depends on who built it and how they wanted it done, and how much they knew when it was done in the first place. The light covers, yes those go up and down with a lever inside the car. There are other ways of doing it, but this works just fine. Your friends dad is right, it is just a simple adjustment to refit the light cover. the mufflers for these are really cheap, and are interchangeable with most any VW. it is possible that the owner simply pulled it off this and used it on a different VW since he had a few different ones. The Frame/Chassis being in good shape is a MAJOR BONUS, no matter if you like the bradley body or not, it is hard to find a frame/chassis in good shape for other projects. From what little i can see in the photos and what you have said about it so far, the car sounds to be worth $1200-$1800. if you can get it for less than that you are doing great! I do want to forewarn you, these are very lightweight so they can be very quick, however being so light they are not good at handling in rain / wet roads, and if you get snow where you live DO NOT DRIVE IT IN SNOW! Whenever possible, park it in the shade otherwise they ger very hot inside in the summer, and if you leave it parked outside in daylight a lot, get a carcover for it... as far as the color goes, if you don't like the brown metalflake, these cars are typically cheap to have repainted because they have such simple lines and hardly any masking off of parts. Let us know how it goes, and if you don't get it but like the idea of getting something similar, check out www.thesamba.com in the classifideds section, there are always a lot of different kit cars in there. Good luck and have a nice day! Bob

Not to stop horen2tas repost of Skips earlier posting, but I have done business with kitcarguy in the past on one of the other projects he undertook as a service he offered to us. Bradley vinyls... He did a mind-blowing job and got me exactly what I wanted. Kitcarguy, if you do decide to make these for the members, drop me a pm and I will have an order for you. Skip, those look great, but you have your hands full as it is with the 2 B-GT2s and the Trikes you are doing (looking incredible ! :-) ), among the other projects. Kitcarguy does awesome work and great comunication from first contact until you hold the end result in your hands. you will not be disappointed. My back window before the vinyl my back window with the vinyl - please note my name is Bob... I couldn't get all the fine detail in a picture with the sunlight, this was the best I could get with an old cell phone.

Are the batteries that are used in the Bradley GTIIe the same type as those used for storing solar/wind generated power? In my search for free power for my home (still trying to build a dual-head generator) I came across a website promoting converting cars from gas to electric. -Does this look like the systems used in the BGT2e? -What are things to watch out for? -Do the Pros out weigh the Cons? www.gas2electricity.com/?hop=zephyr27

Ed, I imagine that Skip20 would like to see pics even if the cars are cut up... he can make anything out of seemingly nothing. That is if you took any photos when you saw them.

Hey studs33300, Here is a quick reference to posting things on here. I compiled it from various things other members have shown me in the past, hope you find it useful. bradleygt.proboards.com/thread/1371/posting-links-pictures-youtube -Quick note, Photos have to already be online, I post mine to facebook (most everyone uses something different) then use that address for the photo to post here. make sure you check the web address and make sure it is http:// and not https:// . If it does have the "s" just remove that to make it postable.

a friend of mine was tired of pull starting his generator (in his 60s-70s) so he replaced the tecumshia engine with a 1600 VW... That got me thinking -DANGER DANGER WILL ROBISON- how many rpms does a vw transaxel spin in 4th gear?
My idea is to have 2 generator heads, each attached to one axel. And maybe have an electric motor powering it.
Yes i know that requires a power source. my thinking is run 2 powercords to the motor, each with an on/off switch. plug one in to the house to start the system, and pug the second into one of the heads. flip the switchs at the same time and have 2 self powering generators with 4 level of power output ( 4 speed trans)
What I need to know is what RPM the transaxel is capiable of in each speed.

Thanks guys. I sent Vince over at the samba an email, read over a lot of his posts too. That will be a great reference when I repaint my blue '74. Dan- I'm going to give it a shot on my '74 before I do anything on the silver '76. i'm thinking 3 layers of clear should give good depth... maybe do a 8little pinstriping before I do. -most likely just the rear lid. Leonard, that looks amazing what it does on boats. I might get this too, and do part of the back lid like this, and part the other way listed above.

Ok, I know from metalflake boats i have in the past not to leave them out in the sunlight all summer long... well i did just that, with the silver '76. I didn't notice that the finish was actually fading and the gell coat was getting damaged (worn off) until I washed it for the last time (about 2 weeks ago) before I parked it in my barn for the winter.
The only thing that comes to mind to fix this off hand is to spray a few coats of clear coat paint to protect the metalflake gelcoat... but will that work? I am wondering if there might be a chemical reaction if the clear is not compatible. I know it will not fix where it is faded/changed color, but it might save where the gelcoat is worn down.
any suggestions? how did you save / restore your metalflake? -Or is it impossable and that is why people paint over metalfake?

Heck, I've seen guys at car shows with '57 chevys pulling old fiberglass boats that they basiclly made the top half look like their car. the interior too for that matter.
Being down in Florida, are you thinking a flat bottom boat? if so, that should be fairly easy to cut the lower sides of the brad off, (about mid wheel well)fabricate new mounting points, and bolt on. then you could go fishing in class, and depending on if you make a convertible top for it, you may even be safe in the rain and not get the inside soaked.

Ok, I just took a look at an enlarged picture of said unknown kit, and didn't notice until then the front corners are almost squared off. Dan you are 100% correct, this is NOT a Vokaro. I'm wondering if someone didn't do some cutting and custom fabricating and took 2 kits and made one?

It would be helpful if you could upload more photos showing the rear, dash, other angles... -Dan, there were 2 variations (at least) of the Vokaro, this may be one of the earlier models. I looked under EVERY listing on www.priceofhistoys.com and there were only 3 cars that had almost the same body lines, this is the closest, AND it is the only one I could find with a circular emblem that big on it. Not meaning to contradict you, I have too much respect for you to be that inconsiderate, however this appears to be the only thing it could be. yes I know, this variation has the air-dam on the rear quarter... it could have just been a newer version, after all everything adapts to trends and a company can't make the same exact thing for ever. priceofhistoys.com/category/vokaro/
