And here I've been trying to recrute those on the Facebook page to come here for the wealth of information that is in the archives and to join in the whole experience of owning a Bradley. I try to pass some good info on there, and keep leaving links to here to help answer specific questions that have been solved by many of us.
Yes there is a lot of crap there, but there is potential in ideas and resources that are either overlooked or forgotten about as well. Even if 1 person there finds that this is the better alternative for experienced knowledge, then my efforts to direct them here have not been wasted.
By no means am I saying abandon this site, but help me draw more in to make this the stronger following. That's about all I have to say on the Facebook subject.

Darn, I should have paid attention to the disclaimer, I should have ordered 1 at a time instead of 7 at once. Oh well.

Little nervous, this will be my first real road trip with the Bradley, about 400 miles one way... Furthest I've taken it from home is only around 40 miles, but I have put over 300 on in one day with it. Once I am able to get it out of the barn, first stop will be to the tire shop, long overdue for new rubber. The tread is like new, but i have a feeling the tires are old than I am.

Just made my hotel reservations at the Rodeway Inn, about 5 miles away from MidAmerica. If anyone else is going and looking for a place to stay, that appears to be the closest and the lowest price. If you have "Choice Privilages" from the Choice Hotel chain(comfort in, Quality inn, ect), the room is $10 off the normal price when you prebook.
I am trying to setup the Club Registration with M.A.M.W. now, does anyone else plan on attending this year? June 5-7

If you could provide some photos from when the chassis was redone showing the pan drop, and with the fact the gull wings are both intact, $1500-2000, sounds like a solid base price... Does it still have the 4 wheel drum brakes or disk? Any details of the recent work done should add to your negotiations with prospective buyers. Example, if you replaced the shocks, did you use gas shocks, coil over shocks, or had an air ride system put in... Prospective buyers will try to pick it apart to get the price down, so when you are able to provide details of the additional items / upgrades to show them they do not want to pass you by, that this really is the car they want. Photos would really be helpful in giving you an accurate price range. If you need help uploading some, just ask and someone might be able to help with posting them.

When the original build is completed, it has to be safety inspected by the police dept, and at this time THEY install your Vin tag where you specify where you want it to go. As far as how it is titled, that would depend on how the same officer completed the paperwork. For Insurance reasons, Volkswagen would be the preferred documentation vs assembled, or some rare model (being Bradley GT) they may not be able to find enough information on. Either way about it, I hope you enjoy it.
Do you have it licensed as a historic vehicle or as a normal car? As historic, its a one time payment for 10 years, just have to limit it to driving to shows, cruises, service shops, parts stores, and gas stations... So I make a point to either get some random thing at Autozone or to get gas every time I drive it, even if its only a gallon. As long as you have a receipt dated for that day you are covered if pulled over for driving a historic car.

That's amazing. I took mine to the dealership for the brakes too, and they told me they couldn't work on anything that old because there are no shop manuals for my base car as a 68 beetle.
Best bet would be to find a local VW vendor (dunebuggys, 4x4s, ext) and see if they can help you find someone who works on things like our car... You might get lucky and find a local club or fellow owners. ~where are you located?

Look up buttsag in the search feature here, it seems to be a semi-common curse of the GTII, with various ways to fix it.

I watched it 3 times, with a lot of 1/4 speed slow mo, and no sign of it. Closest things are a few 90s Vettes, and two "New Beetle" cars.

I know I wasn't able to go last time I brought this up a few years ago, hopefully this year I can. Is anyone else planning on going? If so, we can start the Club Parking registration once there are a few people planning on it. registration.funfestacvw.com/default.aspx

Jsbtown is right. The standard reccomended tire psi is with normal cars and trucks in mind which are what 5 or 6 times heavier? 22 - 26 should be fine, gives you a little better grip and feel.

I saw this on facebook when it first got posted and thought it was a front engine project that got abandoned. its nice to hear the history of this car, and I know its in good hands now. question is, what Subaru engine is going into this one?

A lot of people just leave the front bumper off, it really depends on how yours are currently mounted. If its like mine, there is a round pipe that is bolted to the pan that the bumper piece slides into and bolted or welded in place. You can pull the pipe, cut it, weld in a 2" spacer and weld the other section back on. That's part of the great thing about kit cars, you can make it your own by your likes.
I was going to ask about the windshield, couldn't tell if it had gotten broken or if the light was shining in a odd angle, but being plastic that explains it. Good idea, and a lot cheaper than a new windshield for a 66 corvette

As a side note, my boots often get stuck between the pedals also, so I have a pair of tennis shoes I wear just when I'm driving it. There are also kits available that increases the space between pedals for people with wider feet, I've seen them on www.thesamba.com in the past, but don't know of anyone who has done that yet. I am thinking of doing that soon, I wear a size 14wide.

Pros, More space! For headroom, tire clearance, engine accessibility, ground clearance (very helpful on roads with potholes and steap angled driveway aprons to various places you may go) better visibilty driving at night as headlights reach further...
Con's, repositioning steering column, removing windows to avoid breakage due to body flex while pulling from frame, electrical connections / wires may need to be replaced or added to (this could be a blessing too, as you can get it done to avoid future issues). Realigning body perfectly straight, ifthe angle is off, you will have an odd feeling when you drive it. The contour of the Napoleon hat and rear trans area have to be test fitted multiple times to get right fit... That is if you just use 2" stock there too, you will have a lot of cutting to do. Its like fitting an O in the size made for an o. Can someone else show a picture of what I'm trying to say?
If you have the time, space, and frabrication know how, it would be well worth it. An easier option would be a pan drop, but your foot clearance would still be an issue.

I had an issue with tire rub when I first got my second B-GT, fixed the tire rub, Stance, and overall feel /handling with new shocks all the way around. I do recommend coil overs in the back ( Has to support Body + weight of engine + trans-axel + gastank), but gas shocks should be fine for the front.
As far as Tires, I've got 14s, unsure of size. If you do go with 15s, go low profile.

I agree with gitrdun, SWEET Color and the 5252rpm.com graphic looks great too. I have been toying with the idea of switching the round headlights out for smaller rectangular ones like yours, could you take a closer shot of them for me? How much clearance do your light covers have?

Kyle, I can not thank you enough for starting the forum. The amount that I have learned on here and have been able to pass on has been well... I can't find a proper description besides priceless. I consider everyone on here as family (like cousins that you only see once every few years, but still talk on the phone), and even though the facebook Bradley site is catching on ( www.facebook.com/groups/209564492563965/ or search "Bradley gt,gt2,gte kit cars" ) I still direct a lot of people on there to come here so they can take part in this epic life challenge of owning a Bradley and reap the benefits of knowing there is always an answer to a question. Thank you again, Bob -aka cocacoladodge

After a close encounter with nearly spilling a quart of oil on my manual, I thought it was time I scan the book and just print off whatever page I need at the time so if that gets destroyed, no big deal. Since I have it scanned now, I uploaded it for a quick reference to anyone who may need a quick look at something. Front cover Index Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 Page 8 Page 9 Page 10 Page 11 Page 12 Page 13 Page 14 Page 15 Page 16 Page 17 Page 18 Page 19 Page 20 Page 21 Rear cover Hope this is helpful to anyone who has questions on the standard wiring package...

Too bad, I just hit up the VW Bug Run at the US 131 Motorsports park in Martin Mi yesterday and we had awesome weather, best we had here in about 3 weeks. getting rain today though.
-As a sidenote, does anyone have a problem with the right rear spark plug loosening its self up and popping out of the head? thats happened to me 3 times now, just glad there wasn't hardly anyone around when it happened.

No, you don't want mine after all, forgot the chrome was pitted pretty bad. You would be better off with centralvalleys lights, or I saw some like mine on the mooneyes website, but they are pricy.

The Facebook page for Bradley GT/GTII/GTIIe has a number of newer owners on it that haven't been on here yet, in addition to some of us that are on both. Right now there is a Gt owner that got hit in the rear right and smashed the corner pretty well. He wants to fix himself but never glasses before. There are a few people that gave advice already, if you have anything you can add to benefit this owner, it would be appreciated I'm sure.
Facebook groups- " Bradley gt,gt2,gte kit cars " - said occurance is on post from Friday, September 26.
