Not sure if this is a pro or a con but due to the high quality of this build and seeing the suspension design going into it, I can only say that after driving my Subi powered GT2 and comparing it to the Corvair version I will offer you some advice. Before you take it out for that first pedal to the metal test drive, you should consider the following. 1. add safety latches to your rear body so there is no chance it can open. 2. Make sure everything is secure. 3. Go to the store and buy a box of Depends. A few for yourself {till you get used to the acceleration} the rest for your friends when you take them for a ride.
Your seat covers will thank you for it.

Will have elec. lock lathes on both sides, Front & Rear, rear will have pins on the top corner also.2. Make sure everything is secure. Will super glue Help? 3. Yes, it's very light as it slow coming down on the Lift.Your seat covers will thank you for it. That's why I have the flowers. Your car looks GREAT & sound good to. Very fast work as well.

OK, center console! Here are the two seats sitting, given me about 6" where the shifter will go & it just happen to be 6". Got to find the other seat cover. Think the seats are out of a 280 Nissan. Got them a few years ago so not sure.

This is the stock Subaru XT6 center hump. Cut 2 -3/4" off the bottom to fit the flat floor. Don't understand why some picture out like this & other time they look great. The other side with both seats in. The shifter is also in the hump, but I don't think you can see it in the lousy picture. I Mod the shifter by cutting the handle off & remounting it backwards. Her is it the stock console sitting on top. Will tape the hump in Alum Tape the fiberglass it to the floor, the pull out the metal hump (maybe) still thinking. May need to cut & brace the cross bar of the frame in front of the engine to get the stuff back to the engine.

So, here is the Alum tunnel. After 3-4 layer of mat. You may notice that I didn't go all the way to the firewall. Figured better wait till the A/C unit is install. There's an XT6 at the junk yard, so will go out there & check it out. Threw away the metal firewall to soon & check the A/C Heater unit. Problem!!! that hump in the middle going side to side!!!!! Notice when I was rolling out the bubbles & what not's, that they are sloping in not out. It will act like a key & lock the metal tunnel in. May have to cut that part out to get the metal out. Will cut the floor out under the car & see if I can get it out

I'd say leave the metal tunnel in there for extra strength. With the Subi you will not notice thr extra weight. Also gives you a solid seat belt mount should you choose to install any.

Thought of that with that part angle wrong. Just sound like good deal to leave it in. There are a few bolt thought so that will help also.

Skip, GREAT work!! It amazes me everytime I look at your work! You seem to do more in one day of glassing than most could do in a month! And it always looks flawless when finished. Id say leave the metal in also, too bad for all the aluminum tape though. Jon

Cut & sanded the hole & slipped in the shifter. Laid the console down, need some trimming in the back. Seats fit Ok, leg space is tight. Knees are UP.

I really do not know how you are fitting all that stuff in the front end. PB, clamshell cyl and framework, PS, condenser and rad etc. Not to mention the custom suspension. You must be really short and moving the firewall rearward.

The guy with the 4x4 chassis will have his gt on the road and Skip will still be fiberglassing on his!! LOL ;D How true, How true, How true, You figure I stated with just a body shell & built from there. I said it was a very long time project & I'm in no real big rush to finish it, now something else is coming up which will put this on the back burner for a while again. This is what I us to keep busy in semi-retirement. I'm 62 you know & it's starting to catch up with me.

Body's off to flip over & finish the glassing on the underside. Almost looks like a GT40. ;D Go figure, sometime good/bad pictures. The frame is sleeping up on the lift. Something will be sliding under it on Tuesday PM!

Now have a nice section of fiberglass firewall & start of the air box to glass onto the Bradley's new firewall. Have cut the holes for the Heater tubes & AC tubes. The big hole on the top is for the fan into the fresh air box. Had cut off the mounts bolt's one the old one & will retap then & rivet to the new wall to mount the unit. This is the outside part. You can see the Alum Tape does a pretty good job. The brown packing tape is easier & cheaper to remove. Will cut the old firewall to mount this new one in, which will also make it without the curve. However will need to finish mounting the wiper arm before the Box get closed up.

The Body center section up side down! Have a light inside the tunnel to see where to stat the cutting to get the metal out. The Alum tape has to come out. A lot of grinding, sanding & shaping to get it ready the final Fiberglassing. The holes in the plywood on the side were part of the assy. before I got it & the guy didn't have them covered.. Don't forget to cover your as water get it & you will get dry rot on the inside plywood as it not covered up. Will be taking a Road Trip up to Levittown, PA with a car dolly. Some may know why. Leaving very early Sunday AM for the 12 hour trip. Will stop to see Mom & Dad in Williamsburg on the way back down. Pictures to come

I found METAL!!! Cut the floor out as close as I could with a cut out where. Then sanded the edges down to the metal. Also did other sanding with the 4.5" flapper. Here she is with the wedges in. Will go inside & cut the corners off & hopefully the metal will come out.

IT"S OUT!!!!!!! Moving right along, Sanded the edges down to match the floor & rounded the edge corners. Cut the metal in the back & sanded that too. Look close & you may be able to see how I cut the corner on inside to have just POP out. A LOT of fiberglass dust, looks like it's been snowing in the garage with a lot more to come.
