modern lacquer paints like the Paint Shop Pro line have pro's and con's. Lacquer paint is tollerant to repairs a Pro the Con is not as durable as the modified urethane enamel paint. While lacquer paint fumes are toxic modified urethane enamel fumes contain a form of cyanide and can be deadly. But since you should be wearing protective clothing and using a QUALITY filter mask with fresh air feed either way it's a draw. Lacquer paint won't cover as well since the majority evaporates so more coats are needed a Con .
A quality paint job is 95% body prep 5% application bad prep work will stick out like a sore thumb with any paint type. Take your time with it no need to rush and if someone says it doesn't look good ask them how many cars they have painted . Odds are they haven't painted anything more than easter eggs lol.

You'd think the engine would stick out farther . And the alternator bracket could serve as a licence plate mounting point

That has always been sharp paint scheme looks very well done. The fastback treatment is a nice touch . When that hits the road there will be miles of smiles keep up the great work.

I am going through Allstate and paying through the nose for it . Because mine has an owner constructed title Hagerty won't touch it (been with them for 15 years ). Since I am retired there isn't a need for a newer daily driver and that limits the options. To think nobody would take this for my daily driver lol But it is and Hargerty covers it no problem !

Hi, Jeff , Smyrnaguy He seems like a nice guy we were on the phone for 5 hours literally. So it's a delivery window of 6 months or so . Knowing the time frame makes me feel alot better this way I know what to expect. Once the door comes in and gets trimmed a pair of molds will be made so I can duplicate them in fiberglass. The clear doors will be for shows only the other set will be for everyday. Smyrnaguy your door mods are great Was it hard to get that conduit bent? The tubing make the doors look more detailed almost "aircraft" like. Enjoy the holidays everyone thanks for the heads up Rich

I called Sun Ray in October and was told "We're doing a run of windows in 2 weeks" provided my billing info. Now it's Dec and still no window no call no email. While they might be the best option for quality but not the quickest solution lol
To be fair it's basically the same as buying parts for the Crosleys I had or the TVR and Citicar. They are provided by small companies as a side line . It's just a part of the collector car hobby .

I feel like a goofball for not catching that That happened with the roof on a TVR I had but in that case it was just a weak roof. One of the tricks they used was a support rod from the dash to the roof . The rearview mirror was mounted to the rod . The rod could be used to push the roof back up to match the ws. That is a random web pic of an MG as an example.

You are looking for a 1/4 gap or so? I thin shim against the ws then filling the gap with shreaded mat could close it then remove the shim . Since Poly resin doesn't stick to glass you should he safe .

All the wires on my car were labeled with color of the wire lol. Turns out the P.O is color blind and had a friend do that for him . You never know what you'll run into when you inspect other peoples work .

One door might not be too bad then around $350 for the door and shipping. Since my car is kept outside under tarps the door would be really nice. Climb in slide down to a wet butt is no fun lol

Could you make the tail lights a floating design ? A uniform gap all around with the light housing "floating" in the center. The gap wouldn't need to be huge to provide the venting area needed.

Decided to do some poking around to see why the fuel gauge didn't work. Well no wires connected to it or the sending unit could explain it . Getting the wires on the sending unit with the tank still in the car lead to colorful language but it's working now. The best thing so far is was the rubber cement used to lock the speedo cable to the bearing cover . Stuff like that puts a grin on my face and keeps me busy.
Has anyone hinged the small back window? Seems like that would come in handy . It's a fun project and a great car to drive.

Been a while since I flew gas mostly brushless electric now . My trusty Great planes cub is still in the basement. It's a fun plane with a surpass 70 4 stroke on it fun knife edge take offs with a standard wing span . An ancient cermark Sukhoi 26 with a surpass 120 with a pump another fun plane way too much power. Used to have a Diamond dust with a Os 46 and a tuned pipe let someone else fly it and he mid aired a bird. Now it's mostly brushless Helicopters and the odd ducted fan Warthog.

This car needs a windshield and gauges it has a new wire harness (not installed ) New fuel tank Brakes (Drums shoes lines wheel and master cylinder ) . New pan sections pop rivited in new wheels . New clutch and throw out bearing new fuel pump carb generator oil cooler and exhaust . New lower engine tins and thermostat. New seats with black covers new shifter . So as you can see a lot of new stuff it will need some body work and a paint job. This is one of those projects that just got put on the back burner. So my loss of motivation is your gain $ 1,500 takes it the car is sold on bill of sale there is no title . With the price of the car and the parts this is far bellow my cost. It will need to be shipped I would recomend seeing the car in person . Shipping will be up to the buyer there are other new parts not listed . The car is located in Steger IL 30 miles south of Chicago $1,500 bill of sale no title Email tvr_vixen_2500@yahoo.com Rich H

It's from a set of plans sold by RQ Riley 13 sheets and a book . It's basically built from scratch this one was built in a tent in my driveway. There isn't a body kit for it that's all made from foam sheet plywood and fiberglass. With a subframe that connects the VW type 1 front end to the Kawasaki 1000 LTD. It's a fun build but a bit hot in the summer gets tons of attention .

For the most part it has . The hand clutch set up seems cool in theory but it's hard to get used to. It handles better than I thought it would but it's got the largest sway bar I could find on it. If your short and chubby like me it's hard to get in and out lol. But if you have the space and the time build one it's a great project you'll have a lot of fun . Enjoy the weekend
