Enjoy the 3D printing I have 3 Prusa mendels and a Printrbot . Some sage advice avoid cheap filament, ABS is good for structural parts PLA can be affected by moisture but smells a lot better than ABS . It was fun being able to make the other 3 printers using the first one to make the parts. If you plan on printing a lot getting your own filament extruder could save you some cash .

Well it's about time to move on . I love the car but it's hard for me to get in and out of it so I'm not using it enough. It has new brakes (master cyl shoes and wheel cylinders ) also stainless flex lines but only 3 the fine folks at EMPI only sent 3 good ones . New tires new fender mounted mirrors and new spring assist shocks also a GPS speedo that looks like a normal analog gauge . The seats are from a Saturn comfortable but sit taller than fiberglass buckets. It has the rear window and one gullwing door . This is a running driving car that is currently plated and insured it can be used as is. It's titled as a Bradley Replica the title is in my name . The only issue with the car is jumping out of first if you "pop" the clutch . It's a swing axle pan running a single port engine 1500 runs nice and for a swing axle handles nicely too . A new set of door hinges go with the car as well it's located in Steger IL about 30 miles south of Chicago near IL/IN border. Since the engine picture was taken the plastic fuel filter has been replaced with a steel one . The car us running an electric fuel pump .
$2200.oo cash any trades would need to have a clean title and be in road worthy condition Rich tvr_vixen_2500@yahoo.com

"But my big question for the experts is what caused the starter to bind and sound like the battery was dead when I cranked it with the clutch in and in reverse and it cranked just fine in Neutral? " A short in the back up light harness?

Ditto on the hard filling and the poor vent location too. Take a hard right and you smell gas the vent goes into the drivers rear wheel well. Other than that it's a fun car to drive .

You can get it here www.dipyourcar.com/home.php Performix makes it . This paint runs around $75 a gallon thinned takes 2 to 4 gallons to paint a car. You can save money by getting it on Ebay and thinning it yourself . The Fiero took 2 gallons at a cost of $93 for paint and thinner saved more than $50 by thinning my own . This is the same product that us used to plastic coat tool handles and is designed to be removable . 5 coats are needed to provide the thickness necessary for it to be easily peeled off . It has a claimed 3 to 5 year lifespan when you get tired of it peel it off. YouTube has many tutorials on how to use and thin it out . Another use is to protect the paint during storage coat the car in the fall peel it off in the spring this prevents "shop rash".

Here is an experiment in terror lol This how I received the car Looks good what you can't see is all the peeling clear coat. Painted with black Plastidip Since the car won't fit in the shed it was painted outside . The product sprays well and self levels too

This started when grease fittings started to vanish on cars . My 47 Crosley had over 30 grease fittings on it my 86 Fiero less than 10 our 2011 transit connect none that I've found. It's a "toss it" world where you need a OBD2 scanner to tell you what's wrong . When you find out odds are you don't have the special tools needed to fix it. 100,000 mile spark plugs 15,000 mile synthetic oil car maintenance has been taken out of our hands . I personally think it sucks

After changing the MC on my GT 1 using 4 extensions on the ratchet the hatch sounds great. There is a product called Freeze Off for rusted bolts ect has worked wonders for me.

A few things that affect print quality are , Poor calibration , cheap filament and incorrect temp settings . I have a printrbot without electronics or hot end if someone feels up to doing their own electronics.
Since the printrbot was printed using my Prusa I don't have a large investment in it .

Pronterface uses a version of skeinforge to do the conversion from sti to G-code . I've haven't used it with obj files yet . I like the Prusa it's a lower parts count than the traditional mendel . There is a printrbot around the house somewhere too but I haven't picked up the electronics for it . I'm glad you took the time to make up the Bradley emblem it should be great print.

Doesn't even look close to my artist's eye upper corners top curve etc etc etc. You're right the part that needs to be cut off doesn't match at all . The Opel windshield is taller by a few inches .

Even being short my head sticks out the top of my GT. A lot of that is due to the Saturn seats the PO put in . This will more than likely be my last car without doors not the easiest thing for someone in my shape to get out of . After all round is a shape too lol. Round is good. Makes it easy to roll in and out. I am 50 years old 6'2" 360 lbs and I can get in mine. My seats are 89 Nissan 240sx mounted far back and in pockets. My head is about 1 inch below the top glass. Crotch strap in the 5 point harness is for body positioning. When I use the shoulder straps I am locked in place. Just finished relocating my pedals farther apart and closer to the firewall. 2" makes the world of difference. With my setup you would need to roll up and out lol

My 2 cents, You could learn a lot from a project like this key word project. It will take time and money and some swearing to make it right. If they want any more than $1,200 try not to laugh .
Wiring can be so interesting on kit cars but not in a good way. Masking tape instead of electrical tape millions of crimp connectors and bare wires galore . The body mods are a matter of taste good or bad is up to the individual . So should you? if it's cheap and you are up for a challenge sure go for it. But keep this in mind it's supposed to be fun not a P.I.T.A .
The wealth of knowledge in this forum is immense (that isn't sarcasm ) questions are welcome . So good luck with it have fun if you get stumped say so someone will have the answer.

According to the place I got my E-glass from S-glass wets out more evenly than the E-glass does. It's been a long time since I bought the glass cloth but S-glass was quite a bit more expensive. The extra strength would make it worth the cost . My problem is being a cheap guy lol.

I was talking to a guy with a Sterling kit on Facebook today, and he is actually using Carbon fiber to replace some of the highly stressed points on it where the fibergass cracks. He made a contour form molds and is going to make the parts in the molds, then cut out the glass and insert the carbon fiber an repaint the car. When he's done you can be sure it won't crack there again . Another good thing for strength is S glass. It's fiberglass cloth with different weave pattern very strong.
