The following states mandate that headlight height be between 24 and 54 inches from ground level: Alaska, Arkansas, Washington DC, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas. Looks like we both dodged the bullet according to eHow I'll sleep better knowing this

And around 26 inch minimum height for the main headlamps. The headlight height made me mount my lights up under the mirrors. First paint colour

For the throttle cable you can do something like I did for my subi. A bracket that accepts the motorcycle cable and a long 1/4" tube {or a long bicycle cable csasing}. Not shown in the pic is the tube, it sits inside the nut to stop movement. In your case the tube should be welded to the bracket. The core is replaced with a single 1/16 cable to which the required ends are attached. Crimp on piece inside the twist grip and stock VW on the engine end. Basically the same rig I used for the throttle cable on the Trimagnum.

Dan's right, Pete reconfigured a phone pole using a common M/C for all the brakes on his trike. You'll be running that front wheel in the oily part of the lane so it's easy to lock it up

Clutch is finished & hooked up. Changed plans & will mount brake between the rails instead of sticking out in the front. Working on the brakes now. Will make a bracket to mount the master, the foot pedal is finished now. Or run a shaft from the gas pedal to the center like clutch and brake pedals . Bell cranks can add up to resistance the last thing you want on the gas pedal. Off setting the pedal closer to you could allow the room for the shaft to run to the center. Just my 2 cents Problem has come up, The gas pedal pulls the cable in a VW & I need to come up with a cranks to push down on the pedal the pulls the cable? ? I don't want the tube coming up to it like in the car. Thinking maybe 2 straight bell cranks.

I would rather have the battery up front too . Rather than having a potental fire bomb between my legs .

Some inspiration for you. Has a spot for the rad when you put the Subi out back. That's what could happen to my 86 2m4

Then box over the front frame like in the pic I posted and the floor boards without the sides . In front and rear sections for easy service. Where do you plan on putting your fuel tank?
You should be able to use the same method I used on my Tri-magnum for the basic structure.

The alternator almost hides the whole engine . Reminds me of seeing one on an engine stand seeing how small it was. A lot of power in a small package with 5 cars I'm out of room for a new project or I would try and get it from you.

Well the doors and rear window are unigue to the Bradley GT . But that goes for both the GT and GT II so if you have the GT with the plexi gullwing doors call Sun Ray Products 763-780-0774. They produce the doors and rear windows in batch runs so put your order in . Very friendly and easy to talk to BTW hope this helps

When shops pull that kind of funny business it gives a bad name to the whole industry. I know it might seem harsh to call them out on it or report them . Looking at it logically it's the right thing to do to prevent others from being robbed like you were . The one thing we can do in life is not let people treat us like door mats . Lets face it you deserve better than that .

If you did get a new pan and titled it using the VW title . But if something happens and they find out it's not a stock bug the insurance company might tell you too bad. The above advice is very good and could save you tons of trouble. Depends on the ins co. All of my buggies are titles as 196x VW type 1 convertible. My GT2 is titled as a VW type1 2dr. My insurance co wanted professional appraisals, pictures included. They know exactly what they are insuring. Cops running my plates, don't know as I have never been pulled over in one. They probably do not know what a type 1 is or they do not have an issue with it. Who cares anyway, the cars are certified, in my name and the ins matches up with the vin. In IL they get a lil more worked up. Car gets impounded you get asked for proof of ownership on all major parts . Then the state police inspect it for stolen parts . Now when that's all done the DMV takes over and decides if it's street legal. This actually happened to a friend with a Laser 917 all because a cop got bored. Since he did have all the proof it only cost $700 to get the new title . The best part is 2 months later a tree fell on his garage and killed the car. So basically it depends on where you live and how by the book the local police are.

Thanks You've seen the group for the XR3? there are a few nice builds going on in there. I had planned on building one but dropped out of the group before the plans were released. I saw those builds on your site Your take on the designs was great just like all your builds . If you don't see what ya want you build it your way . Very nice work

As you can see from what's been posted doing it yourself isn't quick and easy. Equipment investment, materials and the paint itself can nearly reach the price of shop paint job. Then you have the time invested as well . You might enjoy painting and plan on doing it many times that makes the equipment investment logical. For a one time shot to save money it's not as practical. I've painted a a few cars nothing too stunning but they were just for cruise nights The TVR and the Fiero these show the hazards of poor prep The Trimagnum scratch built body shows what happens when you rush the paint work.
