Unfortunately not. Here's an exploded view of the part I am referring to. www.appletreeauto.com/Swing-Axle-Rear.htmlSeems like this is specific to a 67 swing axle. The washer in the kit you referred to is the thrust washer and that goes goes on first. This one is after the grease seal and in the bearing compartment. My concern is whether this will leak grease without one. Thanks, Matt

Since we are talking about brake lines, I have run into a snag. First, the long 86 inch brake line that runs from the front to the back has ruptured. Before anybody mentions it, I went to NAPA and they can't help me. Aside from ordering one from a catalog, I would also like to consider replacing with a much sturdier steel braided line. I looked and no one seems to make one that long. Now I assume I can buy two shorter lines and couple them together. Has anyone done that?
My next problem is I have upgraded to disc brakes and when doing the rears I noticed that one side has the grease catching washer that is in front of the grease seal enclosed in the bearing housing and the other side does not. I also noticed that the side without was leaking grease all over the place. Granted, the O ring was shot as well. NAPA does not have it, and most catalogs don't shew it as being available. The thrust washer would be a good substitute except it's not wide enough. Any ideas where I can get some replacements?
Thanks for your help. Matt

Mark Bush has done something different with his headlights on his GTE. (The electric version of the GT II.) He has a web site: www.electricar.us/Or you can take a quick look at his EV Album page: evalbum.com/2609Enjoy. Matt

Just curious how many people need a windshield? Seems to me if we had enough folks that were committed to buying a windshield it might cause a manufacturer to listen. Can we do a poll? I will need one in the near future, the Bradley GT II I bought has two cracks in the corner.

Just curious, has anyone done similar vents for the trunk on the GT II? That would be even more visible and really show off the car. I'd definitely buy some of those.
Thanks,
Matt

Alright, I was able to make the seat in my Bradley GT II reinstall with the 3 inch lift!! And I didn't have to cut any part of the seat. This saved me about $160 per seat. Woohoo!! What I did was mount the seat sliders underneath the seat instead of on the sides. This put my side measurements to 17 inches. I used 5 inch L brackets to replace the original triangular brackets. Then one side of the silder mounted to the L brackets while the other side mounted to 2 17 inch treated 2X4s mounted in the bottom of the pans. Ok, so I lost an inch of the 3 inches I gained. When I close the door I have headroom and can see more than I did before.
Thanks,
Matt

I found the pins and yes, they were too rusted to try and get out.
No luck on finding a slit in the sleeve either, these were a solid cylinder.
Next, I tried heat. A full minute with my butane torch - no luck there except to cause some smoke.
Finally, I ground down a portion of the sleeve to the bolt and used my favorite gripping tool and 3lb sledgehammer to rotate it. Once I saw rust, I dowsed it with penetrating oil. Using the same sledgehammer and gripping tool, I continued to turn and twist off until I could grind down the end that I couldn't reach before. I then was able to pry open with a large screwdriver that acted as a chisel. The new shocks look good!
Thanks for the advice everyone.

OK, when I replaced the rear shocks I was able to take out the bottom bolts with the frozen bushing sleeves attached. Now, I'm on the front shocks and guess what? That's right the sleeves are frozen to the bottom bolts on both sides. I have tried penetrating oil - no luck, tried a vice grip with a sledgehammer to see if it would break up the rust - no luck. My chassis is a 1967 and the bolt is either screwed in or a permanent part of the bottom control arm. I don't know which it is, do you? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt Wilson

Yes, I have a GT II. I believe if I cut off the lip on the side, I can make it fit. If not, GT I seats aren't too terribly expensive. I assume the GT I and GT II use the same hardware? Even though mine is rusty, some rustoleum and WD 40 should make them good as new.
Thanks, Matt

I thought I saw on a VW site where someone had cut after the spline and inserted/welded the super beetle shaft into the existing shaft. I believe it was a dune buggy modification. Here's a place that has the shaft at half the price of other places. From the looks of things, it seems the ends are somewhat adjustable. Of course I'd go get it spot welded just to be sure it didn't come loose in traffic. Does anyone know the OD of the VW type 1 column vs the Super Beetle? I'm guessing if I measure with a cloth tape measure it won't be accurate enough to give me what I need. royrogersparts.com/vw133-419-951.htmlYes, the Flaming River looks nice but $400 isn't in my budget right now. Thanks, Matt Wilson

Bought the lift kit, then saw on other websites how you need a steering shaft extension, (maybe use a super beetle shaft with the U Joints?) also read where GT II seats won't fit after the lift - one side is wider (maybe trim the side?). Another concern is the chassis up front where the bumper assembly attaches. Once it's up three inches only one of the bolts will go through - is this enough support?
Would love to see how others have solved these problems.
Thanks,
Matt Wilson

The seats in my Bradley are 22 inches. I'm guessing they are NOT the originals? They sure are comfy though. Here's my problem. I'm about to do a 3 inch lift, does that mean these seats aren't going to fit after the 3 inch lift?
Thanks, Matt

Is this any different than what was covered on Manny's GTE Manual site? I have access to that. Just curious if through your experience there was a better way or problems discovered that was NOT in the GTE Manual?
Thanks,

OK, I looked everywhere on the site and couldn't find the manual. There's a lot of great information for me to digest but alas it remains hidden. Maybe Manny will see this and point me to the link?
Thanks,
