If you are trying to sell it in Texas good luck with that, the TXDMV has been pulling (vioding)tittles on kit cars folks are trying to sell there dune buggies, sand rails and kit cars for pennies on the dollar on craigs list. Last week the TXDMV agreed to stop for now until they look into it further. But beware it may be coming to your local DMV before you know it. My Bradley is a 73 original perfect sparkel lime green gel coat with the cream white interior never been driven in the rain, all doors and glass are perfect, air conditioning, disk brakes, killer tunes, rebuit 1600 type 1 and tons of cool extras like over head dip swith pannels, electric fuel pump, empi t handel shifter, tow bar, new tires and wheels, original build sheet, etc. etc.. It needed a lot of TLC 300+ hours of labor to make it just like brand new it has been a fun trip and I do not plan on letting her go while i am still alive, anyway I paid $1900 cash and the guy wanted $3000 but you have to give and take a little. When i got her she had been sitting for a long time in storage the OD read 13 miles and a lot of NOS parts still in boxes I had to install. Good luck, your best bet is to have it seen folks tend to go nuts when they see a really cool Bradkey GT1 with a for sale sign on it.

As many of you know here in texas to TXDMV has made ALL dune buggy, sandrails and kit cars elegal the state is revoking all titles they are sending out letters requesting you send them your title and plates in a return envelope is includes ALL vw based Bradley GT cars. As we say here in Texas come and take it !!!! If we dont do something to amend this it will spread like wild fire and every one you may eventually have you Bradleys titles revoked by your freindly DMV. We have started to fight back Faron Smith has started a grass roots effort to have this amended @ Save the Texas dune buggy on facebook he is going before the TXDMV at Autin Texas on 12/7/17 and we need all bradley guys on board. Please go to the face book page to see what YOU can do to help us. Faron has hired a legislative consultant Ron Hinkle to represent us he is responsible for getting the Sling Shot three wheel car legal here in Texas. If we dont stop this they will be going after your guns next. So please take a few mins. and try to help us out any way you can.

Thanks GOD, I found parts geek to have some very good prices. I am going to use my phone to take pictures as I go, that worked well for me doing the brakes. I didnt mention I am hearing a slight squeeking sounds like the back alt. bearing. Worst case would be to get a new quality alt. as well as a new fan and washer I guess we will see once I get it out I let you know how it turns out.

Just last week during mt weekly start up I noticed a vibrating noise coming from the fan in the dog house that just developed. I took off the fan belt and spun the altenator pully by had it spins freely but it has a slight dead spot about 10 degrees feels like the fan has a problem connecting to the back of the altenator I cant say until I remove the altenator and fan. I cant get at it from the back because the fuel tank and a after market oil cooler. So this weekend i am going to remove the air conditioning compresor bracket the manifold and carb. to slide out the altenator and fan assembly in one peace. Jbugs sells a new fan and spacers with the required nuts and washers. I just hope the rear bearings on the altenator are OK what do you guys think am I on the right track? Any advise would be a big +++

I would like to know what is the best oil (grade/type) to keep my engine happy and try and reduce heat 73 1600 type 1 single port stock? Also just under the carb on the intake manifold is a little nipple I have read it is called a vacume port does this need to be left open, plugged, or connected to something, I do have a electronic distributor.

I have recently seen a lot of chatter on the web about kit cars including Bradley GT, vw trikes, fiberglass body dune buggies as of 4/2017 are now illegal in texas. The Texas DMV has passed a new law and says you can not tille your Bradley in Texas as a VW because it has been altered from a factory VW they are calling it "save the Texas dune buggy" does anyone know more about this.

I purchased a real nice set of 2001 black Celica GT seats on craigs list for 80 bucks. I installed one in the drivers side of my GT1 and the fit Ok but it raised my but off the pan an additional two inches that put my head over the top of the gull wing doors. No good!! So I sold them on Craigs list for 150 and put the bradley seat back in.

I recently made a set of gull wing doors for my GT 1 myself. It was not that difficult just takes some practice they turned out great. I used to make fairings for my Margay race cart this same way. I used the broken door to trace the outline onto one large sheet of poly then cut it out on my band saw. I drilled the holes for the two top hinges and secured to the top of the car. The portion that makes the curve down to the side of the car will be sticking straight out. Now for the tricky part I used a regular propane tourch and flashed back and fourth from side to side keep the tourch moving at ALL times you dont want any one particular spot to get to hot or it will burn and bubble up. Take your time and it will get soft sooner or later and and it will start to bend down and form to the opening of the car. I got the sheet of clear poly at Lowes.

My 73 stock 1600 recently started to slightly back fire and stumble under load at 2500 rpm in second gear and slightly in third. I drained the gas tank and installed a new fuel filter and checked the plugs, carb settings, exaust/intake adjusted, checked for any vacum leaks all seems fine the guy I got the GT from is telling me it has to be the ethanol 10% pump gas. I am heading out tommorrow to buy 10 gallons on 92 octian ethanol free gas. I am being told by the folks at Lee oil company that should fix it and run a lot better any one having this problem. The engine only has 175 miles since being rebuilt.

I kind of freak out when driving my GT1 on the freeway and change lanes or just trying to back up the way these are built it is allmost impossible to see everything behind you. At wal-mart .com I bought a rear veiw cam kit for $39.00 free shipping for the money you can not bet it! 7" color monitor/ night vison camera. I mounted the monitor under the passenger side dash. I should have done this last year works really good and I highley recomend these if you were like me freaking out evry time it changed lanes or backing up.

Mine were dry rotted but most of it was still there I removed the rear speakers and vacumed out all the partical board chips, all most looked like a rat had been chewing on it. mine was not plywood it was all partical board and you know what happens when that stuff gets wet it all falls apart. I used a few strips of aluiminium flat stock and fiberglassed it in between the floor pan and the outer friberglass fender it gives it lots of extra support. If you are running your heater ducts through the tunnels be sure they are in place first and what I did then was use five cans of expandable spray foam and filled the entire viod areas on bolth sides. Worked great for me sound proofing and insulation all in one step.

I forgot to mention this car has the Bradley air conditioning compresor and lines to the condensor up front. I guess i can leave the compresor on the engine and just disconnect the high and low presure lines?

I am still on the fence about pulling the engine, thats something I would have to pay someone to do. However taking ten mins. to cut a square hole and pull the tank and clean and patch the leak I could do myself in one afternoon. The fiberglass I cut out will be fiberglassed back in the car with expoxy resin and fiberglass mat cloth ( I used to build surboards in long Island ) and would be covered back up with the original back seat covering. I was just wanting any advise to see if that could even be done before I try it. Mean while i am driving around with less than five gallons of gas at a time. But @ 35 miles a gallon I can go quite a ways on five gallons. I managed to get most all of the rust out of the tank by filling it half way a dozen times with gas and acatone rock the car from side to side and draining it out from the bottom plug and changing out four fuel filters the fuel in now comeing out clear and the car runs perfect. I have pictures of the emerald sparkel green car on my face book page @ doug bailey in Houston it is a perfect car all there with only 12 original miles on the O.D. since it was built in 75 this one is a survivor.

I need to remove my original gas tank from a 73 GT1. can I do this with out removing the engine? I was thinking of using a saber saw and cut out a section of fiberglass from the rear top seat section and pulling it out from inside the car. I would remove the seats as well. The tank leaks with more than 5 gallons of gas and it has some rust in it as well.
