To put the blue dots in you do not want to drill , the lenses will crack. Use a propane torch to melt your way though . I cannot remember the size socket off hand. And with the type of lights they are you can hardly see the dots . Some mods may be in order to make them more visable. Will try to post a pict of mine soon , Steve

ugh, now for the not-so-fun part...I've got a bigger mess to figure out. Shorts, blown fuses, melted wires, can't find the right wire combonation for the headlights, just got the turn signals working but for a minute, left turns would cause my dome light to flash AAAaaaaarrrggghhh! Then something started buzzing, and the horn starts freaking out. There's more, lots more. Want to trade?

Drop the gas tank my son, .....and All Will Be Revealed!
Check MJ's previous posts on using a welding cable front to back through the heater tubes for a reliable ground that's where I started and little by little got everything working.

WISH I HAD A HOOD THAT OPENS :/ I got a flap. The GTE manual tells you where to cut for the hood, But does not give much for the hinge, looks like it might be the same as used for the front gas cover. Wyn

It would be the same as gte I'm sure but I can't justify doing it. I don't want to see the cut lines. But I am curious about the floor pan. Is that welded on or bolted?

Is that windshield cracked? If so what are you doing about a replacement?

Who's glass? Mine is flawless. I have a major sag issue, which has pulled the windshield out. Not sure what to do about it yet, but I have my own threads, so feel free to talk about it there. Great job on this Twoie. Everyone here is inspiring. I love watching what people do to these. I never thought owning a car, none the less one I can't even drive yet could be this much fun. You guys make this site awesome!

Well, I hate to say it but I think I'm going to throw in the towel.
There's too many things to do with it and I just have too many other projects/distractions...
I'll post an ad in the classified section for the potentially useful bits.

Jeff,
When I saw your latest post, I went back and read them from the beginning and looked at all the pictures. You've done an awesome job on it so far. I hate to think that you are not going to see this project through. I have been working on mine for a couple years and really enjoy the time that I do get to work on it.
You need to go back and listen to the engine run again.

yeah, it makes me sad. I've been dragging this thing around since 1986.
I'm just not properly equipped to make the custom pieces parts that I'm going to need to finish this thing off and make it driveable.

Jeff, Did you buy your body from Dale Movers in Fridley/Spring Lake Park? i bought one from them in '85 and built it. mine has been sitting for a long time. Every couple years i dig it out, get it sort of running, drive around the block and park it again. I should get rid of it, but i've had it so long that it just seems wrong to sell it. who would ever think a basic bug would be so much work? Good luck with whatever you decide. Jim

Jim, yes I did... I got mine in '84 not long after they had their big fire that burned all the complete kits they had ready to ship. All the molds were there, didn't think to grab them at the time but that was 25 years ago and I'm sure I would have lost track of them by now.
I guess if I don't get any or enough interest before the snow flies, I'll keep going on it.

Jeff, I'm glad to hear that you changed your mind. If you haven't do so already, make a list of all the things that need to be done to get it running and on the road. While you are at it, make a list of all the things you would like to do to make it pretty.
Good luck and keep us posted.
