I believe I did see Dan Macmillan's post on using heat, but I recall it was in Florida, where it's WARM You can actually see the sag affecting the windshield in my primary pic, top pass side, it's a pretty big hole. The sag seems to be more obvious on the pass side, than the drivers. I'm really glad we're all touching bases on this issue. I like Mercers brace as well, but if it's for a gt1, not that it's usually a issue for gt1, I'm concerned about it supporting all the weight. Looking at it, I just don't think that will work. It's too heave, and would still have sag in the rear I think. When I started this thread, the only proven option I saw was building a rail system. There has to be another way. Dan Macmillan posted last night, but I guess I don't quite understand it. I'll take some new pics today. My camera sucks batteries dead.

Yes, thank you. I did find this image somewhere on the forum, when I realized how little information there really was. I wish it was that simple, although I've never seen a gt in person, I'm still willing to say gt2 has more weight in the back. My biggest concern, is I don't want to push it out to make it go up, and I don't want to pull it down to make it go up either. I need a safe way to do this. This particular gtii is older than a lot of yours. I am already going to have to do a ton of fiberglass work on this. Maybe I'm babying it too much, but what you refer to a sag, is more like a slide. Then again, if I lift it too much, it could crack the glass, not enough the glass won't seal, I pull the glass, I might not be able to get it back in once I add the brace. I don't know what it will do. That's why I'm here looking for expert advice.

If this gt2 doesn't get the best of me, I'm looking at a Ferrari Dino replica for my next project. The Bradley is a great starter car, it really is. Eventually I might have a Sterling, it was something else.

I have been dealing with the electrical, oil leaks, brakes, lines, MULTIPLE oil changes, part replacements, right now, I just need a simple quick fix. Where this car is today is not where it needs to be next month. This car has every possible problem it could have but I'm also completely serious about bringing it back. I understand where JSP is coming from, but let's pretend for a moment that this is my very first kit car. I'm definitely not here to piss people off.

Sorry if I offended you somehow, I just want to see what other people HAVE done. It's not personal. I know you know what your talking about and I love your car. You're not wrong. But you're not telling me anything I don't already know. "Get stuff and make something" isn't what I had in mind. I've had to learn so much about this car in the 2 months I've had it. Every little bit of information I get is going to benifiet everyone here who needs to know. Not all of us are engineers.

I remember the book, but I can't remember the name. The year was 1986, I was about 12 years old. It was a club like Columbia House or BMG, but instead of tapes, cd's and movies, they randomly sent you an assortment of 3 ring binder cards, full of cars, planes, military, even kits, containing detailed information on Lamborghini, Blue Angles, it was well worth the money. I was hooked and couldn't wait for my next shipment. I do remember seeing Bradley in it, but the one that stood out to me at the time was a kit called Sterling, with it's blue lighted outlines and the bat mobile kind of lift up hood. Well ahead of it's time, I saw the true potential of kits but neve thought I would own one. I wish I knew what that book (binder) was called so I could buy it again. I don't know what ever happened to it.

Fact is, it's a huge problem for me. I could throw a piston and it wouldn't be as bad as this. I didn't breae my car or neglect it bud. I got it this way. I'm $2,000 into it, and it's not even drivable yet. I'm trying to do the right thing the best I can. A huge brace is not in my budget.

Wyn states he has a 1" lift and "might not work for everyone" and also mentions he's going to pull a trailer. I am impressed with his set up, and just because he went all out does not mean everyone else did it wrong or it didn't work. I DO have ideas on how to fix it but it doesn't mean it's going to work and I would rather not brake something trying or waste money on something that's going to fail. If you want to help, jsp, then help. No one's forcing you to comment. I got the same respect for you either way. This isn't Bradley's dirty little secret, and there isn't enough information on this topic to make an informed decision.

I don't have any idea, I'm a lumberman. The answer I'm looking for is here. 90 people have viewed this and only 6 people have responded. How can such a big problem get so little attention? This topic deserves a solid thread. Everyone talks about how they added a brace, or how it needs a brace, but no one is talking about how they did it or what they used. Not everyone has access to a metal shop. Wyn did it right, and one day I'll be able to do that, but right now, I just need to get it straight. This thread isn't just about me or my car. It's for anyone with a GTII sag problem. I've learned so much from all of you by reading other threads. But this is an issue which seems to have barely grazed the surface. So bring it on, show US how you fixed it.

So I have now tried grabbing the piece with a hook and I have tried ez-outs and now I have tapped it and inserted a screw and I can lift the whole back of the car with it. I don't know if this is the problem or not but I know for sure that if that piece got hot and swelled the only direction it had to go was to bind up the drive rod. I guess the engine is getting torn down. Crap! I snapped mine off, hooked it with a coat hanger and pushed it through. Still a small peice in there but should come out with a oil change..

Sag is the major factor. I fix the sag, the doors ill close and the windshield will seal. But I am not in the position to weld rails, so what are my options? I'm doing everything I can to save the car. I see what is happening, but I don't know how to stop it. Lots of people here HAD the same problem, so what did they do about it?

It's the gt2 in my pic. I've been racking my brain on this one too long, I've seen 2 visual examples of a brace, but I want more options, better images, I like Wyn's but I'm not sure of the other one or how it was even done. I want to know what people are doing. Water tight? I will settle for resistant right now.

You got it bud, those are the ones I'm talking about. I brought my struts into Napa, autozone and O'reilly auto parts but couldn't get anything, not even information. I found these on ebay and yes, I am sceptical buying things online, but I'm sure they do have what I'm after even if that isn't it. My car needs all of them replaced.

I'm sure this topic has been played over and over, but I haven't found any real graphic illustrations on braces. I really like the one Wyn made, but I'm not a engineer, he also mentioned he has a 1" lift. I also live in Washington, the rainy state. I really need to button down the hatches fast. Sag has pulled my windshield away from the frame in a couple places and the doors don't close right and water is dripping in. I've looked for good threads for braces, and found a few, but I don't have a welder. I have a soldering iron. At this point, I'm really not sure what to do. Advice, pics and links to better illustrated threads would be most helpful. I need something even if it's temporary. Thanks in advance, you guys rock!

I paid $1,000 for mine, the guy I bought it from paid $600. Running or not, it's not worth $2,000 in that condition. You're looking at carpet, glass, parts, seals, hoses, gas lines, brakes, floor pans... trust me, you are going to want that car for as cheap as you can get it. It does have the cool factor, and that's all it has going for it, but without serious work, it's not worth that much. That's the fact. Who knows what you'll discover once you start digging into it, into the wiring, the engine. I know. It could cost you hundreds just to get that glass and you're not going to get one at speedy auto glass. That back windshield isn't a small problem. My thought, that's why someone got rid of it. But I would still buy it if the price was low enough.

I should clarify, I haven't purchased anything from them yet, so you should probably verify from them that it's the tight ones. Pushnfords mentioned there are several weights and lengths but they look like a manufacturer so I'm sure they have everything.

If you go to ebay, a company is specializing in lift supports and you can find them by searching motors for Bradley They were like $35 for 2, and being how it's a real company, I believe them. The price isn't bad and takes the bs and guesswork out of it.

Who's glass? Mine is flawless. I have a major sag issue, which has pulled the windshield out. Not sure what to do about it yet, but I have my own threads, so feel free to talk about it there. Great job on this Twoie. Everyone here is inspiring. I love watching what people do to these. I never thought owning a car, none the less one I can't even drive yet could be this much fun. It would be the same as gte I'm sure but I can't justify doing it. I don't want to see the cut lines. But I am curious about the floor pan. Is that welded on or bolted?

I agree, if it didn't have stress cracks at the base of the windshield before, it certainly would the first time you took it out on the open road WITHOUT supports, it would either lay down on you or fly completly off. Chances are, if they were able to take it this far, they knew what they were doing or had a big checkbook. It looks good. It's something few if anyone has. That is what it's all about.

They may have done it because butt sag was pulling the windshield out. Maybe they just wanted a convertable. Atleast it's not jacked up like a monster truck with a set of hornes bolted to the hood.

That's definately interesting... First thing I see is Texas, and think chopped. Twoies get really hot inside, so unless someone installed the HUGE air conditioner box like in mine, I would think this would solve someones problem. But the engine lid doesn't look like mine either. That's flush, mine V's. I think mine is funny looking but I have plans for it.
My thoughts are someone did it, that it's fab not factory, but I'm still a newb. I've seen 100's of pics, but no convertables. I think it's cool. Nice find.
