At the very least a valve job should be done . The heads can be fly cut if no cracking is noted. then any remaining damage can be blended , the key here is no sharp edges . My own mind would tell be to completely tear it down and replace bearings . Maybe pistons and cylenders if worn to limit . It all kinda depends on the budget . Cheers , Steve

The Mid-America show in effingham is a good show. I did talk to the guy from Hot VWs and he was a complete JAG! I asked him why there are never any bradleys in hot vws and he laughed at me and said the bradley isnt a real VW it belongs in kit car magazine! He might be right but could've been alot nicer about it! Thats funny Brads are as much VW's or more so than sandrails and buggies . I got mentioned in the last Hot VW's although just in brief . Oh well their loss .

Check the throttle cable to make sure the throttle is fully opening . My twoie will get to 95 mph with the stock 1600 in it . If it is a 1300 it should still go pretty well .

Mine was a body off restoration so I went with por15 . It still looks as good as the day I put it on 4 years ago . I do think undercoating on top of it would be a great idea for noise insulation .

My car does not have a front sway bar , however the front beam was widened 4" Pushing hard on a freeway on ramp it rolls a little more than I like. Still have to source a bar that will fit my modified beam .

Irs was started in 1969 in the type 1 or beetle 4 speed manual cars . And in 1968 on the automatic stick shift cars . Then if you live in Canada they list the manufacture year as the model year . So an early 69 :Sept thru Dec 68 manufacture date car would be called a 68. Only in Canada do you find 72 things

Ok now this might be a dumb question. I decided to just buy a set of pans locally instead of having them made. I have the old one out except for one section. Here is a photo (not mine) to illustrate For some reason I thought it was not a part of the pan, but it is on the new pans. Do I remove this as I did the rest of the pan? I took mine off on one side then decided it easier to leave the brace on and weld to it . For me leaving the part on was a much cleaner install.

The result is amazing . My car I consider ok , I like to drive it more than work on it now days . It still needs body and paint and interior work . Other than that it is too much fun not to be driving . BTW even in the semi ruff shape it is it still took 3rd in class at a show this past weekend . Take care you resto is top shelf , Steve

Dan, So you can use the later mounts on and earlier trans/chassis ? Sounds like a great idea , i do agree on urathane in that it makes things louder. I am about to change my diagonal arm bushings back to rubber because of the noise . Cheers , Steve

When you release the pedal the bleeder valve should be closed . So it cannot suck the air back in . Open on the down stroke and closed on the release of the pedal . It is a 2 person operation, unless you are using a power bleeder. Just replaced my bug's master , Oh did I say I hate bleeding brakes. Good Luck Leonard , wish I was there to help you out . Steve

Only the 2 bolts holding it from the inside . The push rod is attached to the pedal cluster via a small e clip and the return spring . I was fixing a sticky throttle cable on my bug and when I pulled the cluster my master was dripping out the back like yours . So off to the VW parts store Monday.

Yes it is in the right place the diagram I showed you was just of the pan .2 bolts 3 brakes lines and 2 inlet lines and she will come out . Also the brake line switch wires Darn wish I could do it for you.......... Fluid inside the tunnel is still intriguing me ,It looks wet right under the master right there . Usually when one goes bad it will leak where the push rod goes in .unless it is an internal failure . We are cheering for ya , I have had some great Brad weather last couple days . Still my most favorite car to drive Good luck to you. Ack I missed Dan's post some how , oh well my take on it too.
