It looked like this post was going to hijack the swing to IRS post. So I withdrew it and reentering as a new thread Just out of curiosity on the torsion assembly I had used for my chassis. It uses two mounting arms for each torsion arm. Of all the VW chassis I have seen they have had only one arm. My question is what VW and or year did this IRS torsion assembly come from? This torion assembly was previously used in a rail buggy. Or is this a option to stiffen the torsion arm for rail buggys? users.alink.com/aeolus/img/IRS-01qst.jpg [/img] you have a IRS the other pic above is a swing arm -- does that help ? No, I'm asking about the structor of the torsion arm of this particular IRS torsion assembly. Look at the double arms circled in the picture and compare it to other IRS systems Wyn

My 69 Type 1 has both plates present, and I have seen them on model years up to 72 as well.

At the Pataskala VW show Saturday, there were many Rail buggys, and it was about equal between one plate, two plates for the torsion arm or bolt on swing arm with coil over shock support. The owners I talk to did not know what year the torsion assembly were from. Most of the rail buggys at the used type 3 engines.
