New gauge cluster. Once I get my dash covered in midnight blue, I going to cover the stainless steel part in gray so only the billet aluminum will be showing. I think it will look good. Car is going into the shop next week to get new floor pans, re-wired all the way around with a new Kwik-wire harness, new low-profile front turn-signals and a new horn/siren/pa system. After that, the dash gets covered, new headliner installed and new carpet all the way around. It's been a lot of planning (and money) but the time has finally come to do what I have always been wanting to do to the interior. Bye-Bye 1970's Baby Blue!! More pics to come with the progress. Thanks for the comment.
I won't have any use for the old gauges, so I will be open for offers if anybody is interested.
I will also have the old interior, too. They will probably only be good for patterns to make new ones, but they are there if anybody needs them.

Sorry for all the posts; I don't know how to upload multiple photos to one post. Oh well, it gets the job done. Also, sorry for the bad quality of photos. All I had was my iPhone and took shots throughout the project on-the-go. Once it all gets done, I will break out my real camera and take some better shots.
I welcome all input and comments.

What are you using for a speedo sender for the Dolphin gauges?

I really don't know. They guy I bought the gauges off of said I would need a pulse generator, but I didn't buy one. I wanted my mechanic to look it over and see what I needed before I bought anything.
Have you (or anyone) dealt with Dolphin gauges, or this type of issue? If so, what do you recommend/What do I need?
Thanks in advance.

I have used the Dolphin gauges on my Manx. I went with the mechanical unit though because Dolphin does not sell a VW compatible sender for the speedometer. You will need to buy either a Ford or a GM sender from Dolphin (about $32) and then figure out a way to hook it up to a VW speedo cable.
Some style of gauges use magnetic pick ups but I don't think they will work with the Dolphin brand. I know VDO has a sender designed to work on the VW system.
Since I have never seen a GM (or Ford) sender from Dolphin I can't tell you how (or even if) it will work.

I called the Dolphin Gauge company directly and told them what I am doing: Going from mechanical to electronic in a VW chassis car. He advised me to get a GM based pulse generator and hook it up my original speedo cable to it. He didn't sound concerned or baffled, just a straight shot answer which left me feeling good about the whole "is-it-going-to-work/isn't-it-going-to-work" situation on my expensive, new gauges. After that, I bought a pulse generator from the same guys that I bought my gauges from. It came 2 days later and I dropped it off to my guys at the shop where the Brad is getting overhauled.
Build is going great. I'll have to upload some pics of the progress. Found out after the body was off that my BGT isn't built on a Beetle........ Type 3 Ghia chassis! Anybody heard of that??

I can guarentee you that its not a straight "bolt together" hook-up for the speedo cable to the sender. It can be done by a speedo shop for sure, but its not something your local mechanic can do. If he can, please post some pics of how it was done for me to see.
The Ghia chassis is the same as the Type 1 chassis other than the floor pans and Ghia's came with disc brakes. Did you do a VIN search to determine it was a Ghia chassis?

I am aware you have dealt with Dolphin gauges and have installed them, but I'm just going by what I was told. My mechanic didn't seem too troubled by it and I haven't received a phone call yet telling me other wise. (That's a good sign!) If it works, I'll try to get you some pics.
As far as the chassis number, the car is at the shop and I can't research it. The shop is an early model VW shop; They are the experts, not me. I'm going by what they tell me.
