I see several of them for sale on fleabay, the samba, as well as this site. Many ads use keywords like "VERY RARE" , "FEW MADE" , "LESS THAN 500 PRODUCED" .
Anyone here know what the GT2 production numbers really are?
Just curious.
Thanks

We estimate that under 500 pieces were manufactured.

One insurance company I called said there were 173 GTE's made. No idea where that information came from though

I just find it odd that there are 3 in various condition on fleabay, and 5 on the samba. I know 8 out of 500 is not a large number, but for something so rare there sure are a bunch floating around

If the GT2 was only produced for 2 years before Bradley went out of business, 500 units would seem about right.
IMHO, many kits were purchased but never completed. As evidenced by the number of them that show up on ebay, the Samba, craigslist etc, as project cars with no title /registration missing parts.
I have only seen two GT2's here in upstate NY. One that was completed and registered in 1980. The other was never completed and the windshield got broken over the years. I purchased both of them in the last two years.

I guess I have no reason to doubt the numbers. Like spyderdriver said. It really does seem like their are as many for sale as the GT1.
So since we pretty much got this figured out as best as we will be able to let me ask another question. What would be a fair price to buy or sell a completed GT2 for? I have also noticed that just because a seller puts "RARE" Or less that "500" produced in their ad they think its the first ferrari ever produced.
There is one on the samba/craigslist that has been for sale for some time. price has gone from 6k, 5500, 4900 . Obviously the people are saying its to much money. It appears to be in pretty good shape.

I have owned 13 GT2s...have sold all but 1 and am parting it out, as I could not find a buyer for $600.00 I think that the difficulty in building the GT2 as opposed to the GT, has a lot to do with the frequent turnover of this kit...Just finding parts can become quickly demoralizing to a first time kit builder, so many never really get started building...The reason I owned so many, was simply that it was easier to buy the whole deal than to find the parts I needed..Once I took the parts I needed for my build, I would sell it to someone else wanting a kit or needing parts...The other thing is that you either like the GT2 or you hate it...It is no Ferrari and no Factory Five, but it is a much cheaper build...Except for the windshield problem....

Hey Bob,
I am amazed that you have owned 13 of them. I personally love the GT2 . My problem is the "right" one has not magically appeared in front of me, or even close to me.
You still have a bunch of good parts on that GT2 you are parting out?

I have two of the last GTE bodies they made. I live in Minnesota and I found the shipping company that did all the freight for Bradley back in the day. I picked up two GTE bodies in 1985 for $400 each. It was not long after they had a big fire and all the complete kits that had been lined up along a fence had been destroyed. I got 2 bare shells with wiring, both had glass, but no doors. There were 2 drivers side doors and one passenger door in silver metal flake left. There were also molds for all the fiberglass parts(they may still be there), which they let me have the fiberglass seat mold that I took to a place in the southern suburbs that traded me the mold for a pair of seats, which I used for a few years, but have since thrown away.
I'm on the road this week but I'll look and see what the numbers are on them. I seem to remember seeing a date of 1981, but don't remember if there was any other kind of number. I still have one empty shell (in a lovely white and mold gelcoat) that has never been mounted on a pan so it probably doesn't suffer from butt-sag, but it is missing its windshield. I'll probably post it in the classifieds at some point...

Ya know...It just came to mind that some may think that finding these cars has been easy. the first one I bought 4 or 5 years ago in San Diego..then to Oshkosh Wi, then to Kanab, Utah, then Visalia, Ca. etc etc etc..I live in New Mexico...the cost of these trips really cannot be put into the cars when they were re-sold..Thanks to the internet, I was able to find most of these, but they are never close to home...Yes, if you want one, just be willing to travel and eat the cost of the trip...So please don't think badly of me when I say that I am really tired of building Bradleys and the work it takes to find parts or cars...Best of luck with your build and let me know if you need parts that I may have.

So I finally got out and looked at the car. All I can find is a couple stickers, one is mostly blank, with a date of manufacture being 6/17/81, the other says "Hardtop #1044". I was pretty sure there was another number of some sort that we gave the DMV when we got the bonded title, but that was a long, long, time ago.

jslande01, I live in minnesota also. I probably bought my kit from the same place you did in Fridley? Got mine in 1985 also. I bought the one that sat on top of the building for awhile. I remember seeing those molds there when i was digging around through the pile of bodies. i am currently getting mine back on the road. Jim

I sure did. Can't beat $400 each. I remember the one that sat on the roof of the storage building right on the road there. I'm going to have to drive by up there and see if they are still there. Had a few projects pop up this spring so mine is still waiting for me to bring the body in and set it on the pan. Maybe in another week or so, I'll get a couple guys over and carry it in.

Let me know if you need a hand. We'll have to get together sometime. I think i paid 500 for mine and it didnt have all the glass in it. But that was back when you could still get the front window from sunray for 250. Jim

Had a big party for a brother in law this weekend, had a few extra pairs of hands so we dropped the body on the pan...
So much to do now, don't even know where to start.

I have two of the last GTE bodies they made. Mine was a GTE as well. Converted to T1 engine. One excellent difference is that the engine sidewalls are wide enough to lift a dual weber carbed engine right up into the engine space, then bolt it up and fasten two side fill steel parts to seal it up. -- MJ - also in Minnesota

Make that at least 5... I haven't posted lately, mostly because I haven't been doing much work on it. I did pick up a couple of miata seats for my gt2 recently though, have been test fitting.

I was actually counting you from the PM's we traded last fall... but I'm sure you're right, with Bradley having been based here, there's got to be a bunch of them around.
I got seats from a Saturn SC2 at a boneyard up north of the cities. They have a policy where they won't let you go out unless you know exactly what you are getting. I had to convince them that I had no idea exactly what I was looking for, just that it had to fit within certain measurements.
We dropped the body on this weekend and it looks like they are going to be just about perfect.

There is a guy in Minnesota that has a trailer load of molds recovered from one of the sub contractors. Cant remember who it is though. I think it was Patrick or something
