Well I got the new engine in tonight and she fired right up.....but the rpm varied just enough where I suspected something was up. As soon as I pull the + battery lead, the car dies.
I pulled the belt and polarized the generator. She powered up and spun.....generator is ok.
At 2K rpm, she only reads 12.18 volts.
All I can think is I messed up the voltage regulator somehow. How do I check this, fix this, and generally un-fukc this? Im SOOOO close.....

Yup. You need that light to get things going. Don't use a LED.

Thats it? Assuming Ive got everything else done correctly, all I need is a stinking light? I already plumbed in all my wires...this one may go in the engine bay! I hooked a jumper with a light to D+ to + on coil and keyed the ignition on...light came on...so I think Im off to a good start. Ill try to fire her up tomo and report back in.

Def. need the light! I would also put the light in the dash or somewhere visible. I had my belt brake last year on a hot day and the light came on right away. If I wouldn't have seen the light I might of burned up the engine!

You need the light. One wire from the "run" terminal on the switch and one from the D+

If you hook the one wire to the un marked teminal on the voltage reg instead of d+ the light will light if lose belt, gen fail,or reg fail. On my car it was the unused terminal on reg
