Good morning,
Does anyone have a picture of the oil sending unit for the Bradley GT -2 1600cc dual port engine. Don't know if its a simple grounding unit or is it an actual variable sending unit.
Could it be that the Bradley gauge as the sensing unit built in and all it needs a simple grounding sensor at the engine block?
Thanks
Jerry

Stock is a warning light so it is just a switch with a light. I have (and I think most Bradleys have) the VDO gauges which use a real sending unit. They have one or two connection lugs and is about an 1.5" in diameter and about an inch long. But it depends on what gauge you have. Eric A

Hi Jerry, The sender is a variable resistance unit specific to the provided VDO pressure gauge. The original VW sending unit was just a pressure operated switch for an idiot light. They look very similar, but they're different on the inside. Here's a link to a vendor for VDO (and many other) gauges. They should have the proper sending unit for your gauge. www.egauges.com/vdo_sgrp.asp?Subgroup=Pressure_SenderGary Hammond, P.S. Sorry for the duplicate info. Eric posted while I was still in the process of typing my answer.

Thanks Guys, this is perfect , now the ? is, i have the original Bradley GT-2 gauge completely wired, but i don't see the yellow wire going to the engine. Could it be in the tunnel, since the engine was changed ? or is it routed another way? Also is the the new sender with the 0-80 psi rating sufficient for the original Bradley gauge? The one on the engine is small and looks like just a idiot light sender" as you mentioned, " Thank a lot Jerry

Hi Jerry, Thanks Guys, this is perfect , now the ? is, ............Also is the the sender with the 0-80 psi rating sufficient? Jerry Get the sender with the range closest to the gauge you have to get the nearest to correct pressure reading. 0 to 60 psi gauge will use a 0 to 60 psi sender. 0 to 80 psi gauge will use a 0 to 80 psi sender. 0 to 100 psi gauge will use a 0 to 100 psi sender .....etc. The ohm range rating of the sender also has to match the ohm range rating of the gauge. This rating will vary from brand to brand of gauge manufacturer. As to where the original builder ran the wire, and what color it might be, I have no idea. Gary Hammond,

Great , now all i need is the resistance rating of the old original bradley gauge. Maybe Jeffs CD may have it listed?
thanks Gary,Eric jerry

Is your guage a VDO? If so...then buy a VDO sender. Try www.egauges.com for lots of info.

the Gage says VDO, yfrog.com/n7propaneconversion014jToday i received Jeff's CD for the Bradley GT-2 its invaluable, within 10 minutes i found the Yellow wire that goes to the oil sending unit. The previous builder took the yellow wire and grounded it on the alternator post,WHY? I disconnected the wire and the VDO Gage came to life, that's the wire. Now i need to know, what resistance i need with the new sender? and thread size, is 1/8" the right size for the 1600cc? Thanks to all for your help Jerry

The small tab on the alternator is for the alternator light. It is required to make the alternator charge. When you turn the key to the "run" position does your light turn on? If it does, dos it tur off whn you start the car and jab the throttle? It should.

Hi Jerry, 45 psi warmed up sounds good. ;D My old Clymer shop manual calls for 42 psi at 2500 rpm (SAE 30 wt @ 158 o F) and a wear limit of 28 PSI. Gary Hammond,
