Hi, new GTII owner here in Minneapolis, MN. It definitely needs a lot of work although the body doesn't have much damage that isn't just cosmetic. Original/previous owners never finished it. And as far as I can tell didn't follow the build instructions at all (which were included). It's on a '69 pan with IRS rear, ball joint front. Missing pretty much all of the interior besides the seat padding and vinyl. I plan to take a lot of measurements and pictures before lifting the body to do phase one which entail refurbishing the vw bits. I'm also planning to put in a 4 (or more) point roll cage since the original "roll bar" is missing and I'm guessing doesn't provide much safety anyway. End goal is to do an electric conversion. I've learned a lot just searching through posts the last month or so, this site will be very useful I think. -Nick photos on my flickr page: www.flickr.com/photos/28719853@N03/sets/72157624593672523/

I think I actually have GT seats, not sure what the story is behind that. I either need to lower them or do a pan drop like you did. I'm 5'10" and my head is right at the top of the gull wing. So I'm curious about Jeff's CD, does it have enough GTII stuff on there to be worthwhile? -Nick

The CD is worth it ! Save the pan and running gear for last. It will be awhile before you need it. The body is designed to be finished before it goes on the pan. Good luck and have fun !!

Okay, so I'll get in touch with Jeff on the cd for sure then. What's the reasoning for doing the body first and doing the pan/suspension/running gear last? I was figuring I could work on that first over the rapidly approaching winter when temperatures aren't friendly for fiberglass and paint and by spring I would have a whole summer ahead of me to do the body stuff.

Welcome to the board Nick. I went to Minneapolis a few years ago to pick up a boat made by Bradley. There are two or three more there. One would look sweet pulled behind the twoie.

My reasoning is, The pan/running gear is where you tie up a bunch of money. Then you have to store it out of the weather, all the parts you buy for it will be out of warranty before you ever drive it. And the biggest reason is, You don't need the pan to finish the body.
