We have a question about the charging system. But first, the car was built (900 miles on the odometer) and stored for some years before we bought it, so we have been busy rebuilding the car because it sat so long. It is a 74 Bradley on a 69 chasis (1600 cc). We have replaced wires from the generator to the voltage regulator, replaced the voltage regulator, had the generator checked (it's ok), replaced the ground cable, cleaned the ground point on the frame, new positive cable, new battery, and yet the car will not charge the battery. Checked with the wiring diagrams & and even went to a vw mechanic and everything is wired correctly. Do you have any idea of what we may check next, or why now charge? What type of air cleaner fits for this Bradley? Anyone know? Do any of you have an extra air cleaner we may purchase? Its kinda hard to find parts around here. Thanks.

Check the ammeter. If the shunt is open no charging will occur. You can jumper across or move both wires to one pole and see if it charges then. If it does its time for a new meter. It could also be that the generator isn't polarized (but not likely).

Yes the two lights on the dash light up (yellow & red). Thank you for the suggestions.
