Assembled in 1973 on a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle chassis (claimed to be a Super Beetle, but I am being told that this couldn't be true so perhaps it was incorrectly assumed due to being a convertible Beetle). It has been sitting quite some time as it developed a few things that should be repaired. It has about 23,000 miles on it, it had been driving regularly until a change in personal circumstances meant not working on it, I would like to see it go to someone who could enjoy it.
- As the amount of fuel in the tank goes down, it becomes more difficult to shift gears
- The speedometer and perhaps also odometer stopped working, replacement gauges come with it uninstalled
- The last time I moved it the brakes were unreliable so I used the emergency brake
It originally was copper fleck gel coated, but except for a few places it is all now the more classic red as in a lot of the advertising.
It originally had more modern mirrors (these come with it as well), so there are screw hoes in the fiberglass where those were removed, bullet mirrors were installed at their correct location though one somehow got cracked.
The wheels are big enough that a tight turn can mean the tires touch the wheel well.
Comes with the two removable gull-wings doors and removable rear window to utilize the rear bench (no seatbelts), and the doors can be locked. The electric fold-down headlight covers, radio and all lights work and there isn’t anything wrong with the engine, transmission etc. that I am aware of.
Four-speed manual transmission and takes regular gasoline (I would always add lead substitute).
Clean title, keys for ignition and doors.
