Hello , I bought a 1981 GT II --white on red-with a 71 vw as donar-- that's been off the road since 2006, was inside a garage etc. Gone through the whole car mechanically and such, car - only has 560 or so miles.. Last things to do are good wash and rub out - polish , a new headliner - wiring to figure out.
I am in need of a copy or an original/copy the ASSEMBLY manual - there is something goofy with the wiring going on - though all is good and solid from wat I can see everywhere- the gauges all want peg over to the right - it has a newer generator to alternator conversion - I'm going "nuts" trying to figure this out -I think that's why the last guy parked it- I've ran all kinds of new extra grounds nothing helped - it does drain the battery down if I leave it connected over a few days, I am afraid to drive it yet as I don't want to fry anything - now the tach maybe fried and is stuck over to max position.
Engine runs fine … upgraded to petronix type deal.
