I would check marine applications....for a GTI...
For a GTII you may need a custom tank. I know of a guy who makes very nice custom aluminum tanks.

I have a brand new GT II tank and mounting hardware, I will be glad to take lots of pics and do some measuring for you if that will help. I don't believe it would be a difficult build.

Their item # is 38-530-186-00 PERMANENT FUEL TANK 13 GALLON 32"L x 10.19"W x 10.19"H $144.99 In Stock (The representative image shown is of a different model tank.) www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90762_225012001_225000000_225012000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAILGary Hammond, P.S. .....I see you are located in Canada. That might affect the shipping cost. And these are U.S. dollar prices not Canadian dollars. Don't know what the current exchange rate is.

If you enjoy building things like I do a tank can be easily constructed out of a derelict top loading washing machine in about 3 hours. Its a good rainy afternoon project. I made my tank a bit wider too and increased the capacity from 12 to near 17 gallons. I then coated the inside with POR 15. The new tank is easily twice a beefy as the original.

I think you should consider the fuel tank location when installing your fuel tank the extra weight in the front helps balance the car a 12 gallon tank ads 100 lbs to the front when its full which means a lot once your above 70mph. I had a 65 Corvair Corsa that would become real light in the front at anything over 100mph.
I'm currently designing a spare tire location in the front on mine for that reason.
If you need a standard vw tank go to the local salvage yard and ask them to save one for you. I got a 12 gal tank from a Superbeetle for $10 cleaned it out and painted it . Its for my other kit car. Thats the cheap route ..
Or you can ck out Empi .com or J.c. whitney .com I f you decide to go with J.C. click on J.C. Whitney .com coupons and you can save an extra 20 % and free shipping sometimes. They have earned way to much of my money . great customer service.
Its my understanding they can't put tanks out at the salvage yard with out punching holes in them but if you ask like I did they will save one for you.
Hope this helps .

If the front end of your Brad feels too light without a full tank, then it seems to me that you need caster shims. Another gas tank solution is to use more than one fuel cell. You can arrange them strategically for balance.

Gary: It looks like your tank is almost touching the transmission. In my VW vehicles the transmission twists a bit under load. Yours won't be touching the tank under the same circumstances, would it?
(The cure for one of mine was to install torque braces.)

Hi MJ, Gary: It looks like your tank is almost touching the transmission. In my VW vehicles the transmission twists a bit under load. Yours won't be touching the tank under the same circumstances, would it? (The cure for one of mine was to install torque braces.) The pictures are a bit deceiving. There's actually a good 3/4" clearance between the bottom of the tank and the top of the bell housing. I also installed urethane rear motor mounts, which greatly reduce engine rotation due to torque. And there is no up and down movement. I checked all this out when I re-fabricated the tank mounting brackets. The only place I had to add extra clearance was between the tank bracket and starter solenoid. All that, along with previously installed butt sag supports, keeps everything separated a safe distance. Gary Hammond,

Gary: Thanks for the answer.
Speaking of ... Your capture tank reminded me - Do you have a vent system for the crankcase? My valve covers have vents that go to lines that dump into a vapor collecting tank with a valve that I can use to drain the captured oil. Only have to do it every 1,000 miles or so.

Hi MJ, Speaking of ... Your capture tank reminded me - Do you have a vent system for the crankcase? I'm running a dry sump oiling system which I have vented to the passenger side air cleaner base. The oil tank captures all the return oil with only a little vapor going to the air cleaner base to be consumed by the engine. The system seems to work really well while freeing up extra horsepower, adding oil capacity, and providing a reliable oil supply during hard cornering! ;D Gary Hammond,
