The 7/8" x 5" chrome louvers that are mounted both inside and outside below the rear window have rusted out on the GT2 I am restoring. Does anyone have a source for replacements or come up with something different? Appreciate any help..

I would check marine sources. Many kit cars of that era used marine parts.

I replaced those luvers with a slim set of red led lights and wired them into my brake lights to be used as high mount brake lights.

Interesting! - Do you have a manufacturer and part number for the lights that you used. I believe these vents are designed to draw air through the passenger compartment for improved ventilation

I checked my GT II for measurements and I believe these are about the right size. I'd get some trailer lights since they're cheap and of a standard size. You'll have to double check the measurements to make sure your louvers are the same size as mine though. They're intended to be a cabin pressure vent so that when you have the doors and windows closed and you turn on the air that you're not just pressurizing the cabin. Not only would it help your air function better, but it would be more comfortable. It also helps if you have the windows down or the roof panels out. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/MC65RB.html

An Ideal for those vents is to make a mold for the vent, then use about 4, 5, or 6 pieces of fiberglass to eliminate a new vent assembly. use a Dremal to carefuly cut out the slouts then paint them with chrome paint or paint to the same color as the car. You can mount about 4 or 5 LEDs behind each one to use as brake or running lights and still have the ventilation. And you still do this with the old metal ones. WYN
