Looking for suggestions on removing my 79 GT2 engine (1600single port), what is the trick to getting the fan shroud to pass? There is a pocket at the top of the engine that the shroud goes into. It makes it hard to move the engine forward and you can hear the fiberglass cracking when I pull on engine. Are there any any tricks or something I'm missing? Everything is disconnected and engine is free, just can't seem to slide it out. thanks, Luke

I'm no expert by any means, but I blocked the body up, supported the engine with a rolling floor jack and dropped it out the bottom.

Luke if I am understanding you correctly, the engine is free but it wont roll out from under the body
because the fan shroud is hanging up on the rear "lip" of the body.
If that's the case the body has to be jacked up higher for the engine to come out.
You may have to do some creative blocking and chocking with 8" x 8" lumber or logs
to get that body jacked-up high enough for the engine to clear,
Good Luck & take your time to think things through, sometime you gotta use psychology on it!
