Hi Everyone. Someone just gave me a Bradley Gt1 and the floor pan seemed to be rotting away. Any ideas of what I can use to replace it? Say....can a floor pan from a beetle work? I am very new to this and this is the ONLY place I could find an overwhelming amount of extremely useful information in one place. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Gerry

A beetle pan will absolutely do. They can be purchased new from any number of places as whole pans or half pans with or without the bug seat tracks. Some of us have just used sheet metal to create our own pans especially if the pans are dropped for more headroom.

Ok awesome. What about seat mounting? Do I have to weld something up to mount seats?

Depends on what seats you use. You can mount the seats right through the floor pans with some big washers. You can also weld in some additional structure if you want.

Hi, Kill,
The GT is designed to be mounted over a stock VW Beetle pan, so that's why a standard issue replacement is okay. Any VW mail order or online parts house will have them. Note that the VW seat tracks (also called rails or mounts) should be removed from the pan before assembling a Bradley, so it's certainly okay to get pans with no tracks installed.
If your car came with the original Bradley kit seats installed, you should have four (two per seat) sliding track assemblies that mount to the pan with carriage bolts, assorted washers and hex nuts. Just re-use them for the new pan.
If you don't have the original Bradley parts, just make something up to suit the seats you choose. One of the advantages to a kit car is that it's all yours -- so you can put anything you dream up into practice. If you're going to hard-mount the seats (non-adjustable), make sure that you sit in them after they are positioned, then drill and install. Old carpenter's adage still applies: measure twice, cut once!
Good luck and warmest regards,

One more thing. Can you use the carpet kits from JC Whitney? I.E. the standard beetle carpet cover.

Not very well. Yes the Bug carpet would fit most of your floor and tunnel. It won't cover the area under the rear seat which is exposed in the Bradley. The kick panel carpets will be useless. If you have dropped pans then no kits will fit.
