I just got a Bradley because I have always wanted to work on cars and I figured a car with a beautiful body on a VW chassis was a great place to start. So first off, if anyone has advice or knows of good manuals (I messaged the guy on here who has the CDs but I haven't heard anything back) I would love the help.
The pans are totally rusted, it seems like this is a major undertaking for a first project, but it's what I have to start with. Again, any advice is welcome. My main question is if the car is this rusty, how can I tell if the chassis is sound? If it is rusted is there a fix or is it a scrap? It seems silly to rebuild a beautiful house on a bad foundation.
I'll get pictures up as soon possible
Also, I live about an hour from Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati, are there any good resources in those cities that people know of?

Hi Hocky, Also, I live about an hour from Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati, are there any good resources in those cities that people know of? I think Wyn, one of our board moderators, lives close to Columbus. He has done a lot of work to the chassis of his GT2, and would be a good resource for you to get in contact with. Also Jeff's CD is an excellent resource. Don't give up on him, he will get back with you. Gary Hammond,

get under the car with a screwdriver and start poking around. Rust in the frame head (where the front suspension bolts to), rust in the center tunnel, or rust in the rear engine "forks" can signify issues. The VW pans are a very common rust spot and are easily replaced 9if you can weld). Replacing the pans usually means removing the body...a big, but not impossible task.
Once you start you will soon realize that it will likely need new brakes, new brake lines, new wheel cylinders, shocks, steering damper, fuel lines, wiring, master cylinder, etc etc etc.

Hi,
My Bradley GT and GTII CDs hold files of the complete, original assembly and wiring manuals, and any official updates. The GT CD also holds roughly 38 years and 645 thousand actual miles worth of useful information.
Ordering is easy. Just send $35 through PayPal to jefftroy@aol.com.
If you don't use PayPal, you can send $35 by check or money order to:
Jeff Troy 759 New Holland Ave. Lancaster PA 17602
Be sure to state whether you need the GT or the GTII CD. The cars – and the manuals -- are very different.
One of the many advantages of the CD over an original printed manual is that you can take the pages you need out to the shop and not have to worry about dogging them with oil, grease or other shop debris. If you ruin a page, you can just print another.
One of my CDs just may be the best money you can spend on your car. I'm sure that anyone who has one -- and most owners do -- will tell you that it's extremely helpful.
