I'm brand new to the thread and I'm fixing to graduate high school. I'm looking for a fun car to build throughout my college years. I already have a daily driver, but it belongs to my dad and I'd really like to be able to give it back to him by the time I'm done with college. My dad and I are both big VW enthusiasts. His first car was a '73 Super Beetle with 1600dp, dual weber carbs, performance exhaust, heads, and more. I'm almost finished getting his car back on the road and am looking for a new project for the next 4-6years going through college. I already own a 1970 Buick skylark that I practically stole, but it's really not my kind of vehicle. It's fun to drive but it's too big and... Boat like. I found a Bradley GT for sale and was wondering if it was worth the price to buy and fix up. (Link below) If so I have a few questions. 1. Are there doors for this car? 2. Is a back glass easily available for this car? 3. Is a heater within reason for this car. and 4. Could I put like a vw 1832, or something in this beautiful little creature? needless to say I am incredibly interested in this car, I just don't know really anything about it! clovis.craigslist.org/cto/4776597630.html

Also, my skylark is worth about $1700-2100, so I might just trade if it is an option

Happy to help: 1. Doors can be found but are not really readily available. And they are expensive...think $500 plus for a pair. 2. Back plexi-glass window is the same. There is only 1 source for new windows and rear plexi and that supplier really cannot be counted on to deliver. Its really hit or miss...with a lot more misses 3. A minimally effective heater is possible. Enough to take the chill out but not really in cold weather 4. Yes...lots of VW options possible. I put a 1914 in the one I built and it moved well.
I would not trade a Skylark for that car. The one you posted looks like a $500-$750 car max. It needs a lot of work that is not mentioned in the ad. For example...ask him to take a picture of under the dash. I bet its a rats nest of wires. Can you do a full re-wire?

Hi Nchase96, I would assume from the pictures it needs an engine rebuild or replacement, head light repair or replacement, interior repair or replacement, new wiring, new wheels and tires, and all new Plexiglas. The doors and rear window are sometimes available, but pretty expensive. You can get some heat from the stock type heat exchangers. If it even has heat exchangers, they are probably shot as will be the flex hose that carries the heat forward. You can put any type 1 engine in it modified to whatever extent you want. I wouldn't go over $600 for it as is. Gary Hammond, P.S. I was writing my response out while Jeff's response was posting. Looks like we are in agreement.

And that is why I asked you guys, I kind of thought the same but I wanted to be sure. I'll probably end up just getting a regular beetle, or a K.G. Thanks for the advice!

I do think that if I go to check it out I will take a bunch of extra pictures and post it on the classified forum here so it maybe can be saved by someone with more options.
