I went for the first time last year after acquiring my first Bradley. Great show but there weren't any Bradleys there. Is anyone planning on going this year? May 21-23, 2010 Here's the link for the 2010 show. www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/

I added this to my plans last year, but it fell apart. Keeping the dates open for '10 so we'll see.

So far the date is open. We'll see if it is worth the trip. I need a lot of support of Bradleys to make the 6 day trip.

Hi, Guys,
It's only an hour away for me, so except for last year, I've been there every year since 1976. Last year's turnout was pitiful, so I didn't bother. I can look at my own car at home.
Otherwise, it's always a good weekend.
If I'll have company, I'll be there.
Warmest...

My wife and I are going to try to make it. I'm fairly certain I'll have car #1 finished by then.

Hi, again, Group,
It's important for everyone to understand what an impressive show this can be. A few years back, we had more than a dozen Bradley cars, and twice that many owners The guys from Maryland - Jeff & Beth Troaster and Eric & Erika Eisenberg - organized a tent event where we all contributed to completely assembling a fresh GTII kit from scratch on the spot -- and driving the completed car around the show field on Sunday afternoon.
The following year was pretty good for attendance, then it dropped severely over the next two years. Last year, I don't believe that a single Bradley was on he field, although a few members did visit the show.
When Carlisle is attended by Bradley owners, it's way fun and you can see things that will help you plan your own cars' rejuvenation procedures or improvements. You can learn from anyone, even if it's what NOT to do.
I really do recommend attending the show, It's relatively inexpensive, and you'll have a good time if we get the numbers up.
If you're looking for VW parts, there are more than 100 tables with everything you could imagine for sale. This is major show, not local club get-together.
Warmest...

I think that was 2004 jeff. I Was there and had a great time. It was great being able to finally put faces to the names we see on here. Hopefully I will be able to attend this year if only for saturday. I would hope plenty of members show up this year.

Hi, Bill,
I know Pottstown fairly well. Use to run the Allied Hobbies store in the KOP Plaza back in the 80's and was pres of the model airplane club that flies in Valley Forge National Historical Park. Also used to fly RC sailplanes at Daniel Boone Homestead, not too far away. Did a show at the ?? Ballroom in Pottstown many moons ago.
You're welcome to come up any afternoon. I travel often, so it would be wise to call first. Cells are 717-917-3670 and 717-917-1272. Best bet is to give me a week's notice.

My wife and I are thinking about taking our Bradley to the show this year. She has relatives in the area she also wants to visit. Haven't decided for sure yet, but the dates this year would work out well for us. What's the name of the motel we stayed at in '74? Has anyone checked into booking reservations there again? Gary Hammond,

Hi, Buds, I booked it. I made my reservation yesterday for two days on the show field. You can register online at www.carsatcarlisle.com. Looks like I'll have to put a coat of polish on the ol' GT. Hope to see some -- a lot -- of you there. Haven't booked the hotel yet, but will do that in the next few days. Planning to stay at the same spot with the restaurant next door. It's convenient, clean and inexpensive. Warmest...

Hi, Gary,
Neither can I. I tried calling the Quality Inn. It looked right in the pictures, but they don't have a record of me staying there. Maybe new management again, and I didn't go last year.
Did you remember the hotel, or does anyone else remember the hotel? It's on the left-hand side of RT 11 if you're heading there from the fairgrounds, right next to that nasty, family-style restaurant.
Please post if anyone remembers the hotel name.
Thanks and WR...

I'm not seeing the interest that more than 2 or 3 will be there, so I am scrapping the plans on going. Have fun. I'll be thinking of you. Pray for good weather this year.

I was planning on going but it doesn't look like I'll get the car together by then. I've been postponing mounting the body for weeks now intending to install a rollbar. It looks like I may have to make one from scratch. Anyone have rollbar plans for a GT1?

I'm still going. The plan is for both days, and I hope to see some of you there.
SMYRNA - The roll bar sucks. I had an original when I built my car. The fit was horrible, and the design killed any comfort room between the seats. It also took away any chance of slipping packages over or between the seats to store them on the package shelf. It looked pretty stupid too.
Regards,

I am going to fab one in a while but not like the one that is diagramed in the instructions. Going to run it off my custom lift frame which is burly

I was planning to use the bar mainly as a mounting point for the shoulder harnesses. I think I can fabricate something a bit flatter that will suffice and hug the interior better.

Hi, Again,
I'm still planning to go on Saturday, but returning on Sunday will hinge on turnout. If it's light, I'll have more fun racing vintage karts on Sunday.
Hope to see or meet some of you at the show. If you show up and can't find me, use the cell: 717-917-3670.

Me Darlin, the One and Only Molly McGuire (no kidding), an me would love to be there. How many years can I procrastinate? I have not YET fixed the butt-sag, so me GTII leaks like a sieve in the rain. Okay, next year.

You may even be older than I am, so which butt sag is the problem? Yours or the car's?

Hi, Leonard and Brian,
Interest on the board was non-existent, and the weather reports from and for Carlisle called for rain in the morning and thunderstorms in the afternoon. It just didn't seem worth my time, so I stayed home and worked on a few of my vintage Sunn amplifier restorations.
I had asked anyone who couldn't find me at the show to call cell, which never rang. Seems pretty safe to say that Carlisle is no longer a high-priority event for the club. I didn't go on Sunday either, and never even bothered to check the weather.
My Sunn amps are looking great though, and I did do a nice job cleaning up the "Plastic Racer" for the show.
Warmest...

not so much a lack of interest, more a lack of money.

Hi, Doug,
Probably true for some of us, including me, and I registered in advance for $25. I might agree, but just take a look at all the "excitement" in this thread.
Might have been better billed as a toe-tag party than a kit car show, but I'd be willing to bet that the rain for the last five years in a row has probably played a big part.
I can't even remember the last time the Kit & Import Show was dry and sunny. So far, it's one hand clapping.
Oh, well, maybe next year.
Warmest,
