It looks to me from the first picture that Skip20 has already prepared the mating surfaces for fiber glass. I couldn't make out what the second picture was trying to show us; unless it is some sort of rubber seal?

I couldn't make out what the second picture was trying to show us; unless it is some sort of rubber seal? TIM You would need to grind off the gell coat to fiberglass 1st as nothing will stick to it. I sanded the edges to remove the large paint lip on it.

I second that vote Captain,
glass it in and smooth it out
Then you can be kool like the rest of us
sand that gel coat
you can do it
