Yes. Lots of welding, lots of fabrication, lots of re-structuring and re-engineering.
The Fiero frame is a space frame where the panels are non-structural but the rest of the frame (including roof and wndshield frame) are critical to the overall structure of the car.
That being said, they are often cut up to build Lamborghini kits. Do a search on Google and they will likely show you all the modifications that are needed. That will just give you a concept of what is needed. If you decide to pursue this idea you will have to come up with the specific engineering for your own application.

So in other words a whole lot of work for nothing really. How much work would it be to just mount the motor and trans too the bradley? (This is mostly just bordem speaking)

Bradley owners have mounted several different engines to the VW pan/frame Bradley. I have a corvair engine mounted to mine, Skip20 has several different modifications including a Subaru engine bradley. He can probably give you lots of useful information.

To mount the Fiero engine and trans to a Beetle pan? A whole bunch.
The Fiero motor/trans is mounted left to right. The VW front to back. Nothing even close. Custom axles, custom rear sub frame, and oh yeah...all the cooling , all the emissions and computer stuff, and more.
And the motors that Big-birds-ride mention all mount to a stock(ish) VW tranny in it stock position. The Corvair is air cooled so you don't need any radiators. The Subaru is water cooled and take a look at Dan's build thread to get an idea what is involved in a swap like that.
Anything is possible with lots of talent or lots of money. You do have to have at least (if not both) of tem though to build the car with anything (except maybe Corvair) the stock set up.
