www.chadsbradley.co.nr Does any one know what the stock VDO speedometer guage for the gt1 is. Where I can get one? I don't really want to wire up a whole new one. Would be cool to get one that just slips right in and plugs right in. Or if there is a guage that uses the VW cable without messing with the nut that is the same exact size that looks good?

There really isn't any "wiring" for the speedo. Maybe for the lights but thats about it. Most GTs that have aftermarket gauges use a mechanical speedo. Its accuracy is pretty hit or miss. Going to an electronic speedo is way more accurate. They are however expensive. I believe that the GTs used VDO gauges. Try here to match it: www.egauges.com. You will need to know the diameter of the one you are replacing. Usually they are 3 1/8" or 3 3/8". I think I have a Speedo & Tach from my old orange Bradley build it you are interested. They aren't perfect but they are serviceable.

I didn't realize the VDO Jet thingypit series came in the GT. I knew they came in the GT2 but wasn't aware they were standard in the GT.
Edit: I am not typing "thingpit"...the forum is changing it to that. The name of the guage series is "Rockpit" but remove the "R" and add a "C".

These are the guages that came from the GT that I restored for a client. As far as I know they were original to the initial build. I still have them if you are interested

Hi Guys, The "JET" version came only in the GT II. The GT used the standard "thingypit" series. The threads for the speedo cable may be different and I don't know if it needs a gear box in the cable to be accurate or not. I replaced mine with the electronic version. Link to mechanical version............ Mechanical VersionLink to electronic version............ Electronic VersionGary Hammond,

The threads are different but you can use a simple plumbing adapter to replace the VW plastic piece on the speedo cable.
Since tire sizes used in the Bradley vary so much it is hit or miss for accuracy like I said before. Gear box adapters are getting much rarer and are also hit or miss.
If you want accuracy you need to go electronic or GPS.

If the threads are different simply get an old cable that fits the speedo and swap the nut to your VW cable

www.chadsbradley.co.nrThanks guys for the info. With it I found the exact one I needed. I would buy the ones from you but what has happened is that inshurance has informed me that I can only drive 300 miles a year. Colorado law has changed for collecter cars. Emitions every five years for non kit cars but only 3000 miles a year for all collecter cars. They are taking pics every year of the Speedo gage. So I figured I would get another gage exactly the same but nice and new to use the year and slip the other one in once a year for the pic.
