I would like to build remote control automatic doors for my GT II. Has anyone ever done this? How can it be done?

Finger, Type in the word "supports" in the search box. There should be a thread subject "Lift Suports" where Dan M gave some good technical information on the topic. There have been many others who have contributed to the topic over the past few years.
Good luck.

Also, depending on your location, there are speed shops that specialize in customizing modern day cars which include changing the doors to "Lambo" style or "gull wing" style doors. They would certainly have kits they install with keyless opening of the doors. I am in California and there are 2 such shops in short driving distance which always have a car or two getting door kits. Their prices are:
Standard 120° Door Kit $499.00 Automatic Operation $799.00 Automatic Operation Remote Activation $1199.00 Plus installation if your not doing it yourself. Street Beat Customs online has a kit for Selling Price: $799.99

Looking at those prices I'm thinking I'm in the wrong business! You could pull that off with an Arduino Uno, a 12vdc latch, and spring loaded lifts, a hundred bucks max. I plan on doing the same thing to mine if I ever get the resto done on it.

you would def want to use linear actuators for lift(compact and powerful)about 100 each.then and alarm and a couple relay wired right you can do for a few hundred. for example say you already have an alarm and using lock/unlock button for arm and disarm. you could wire in a window roll up module to close doors when hit lock....then use trunk or aux button to open doors.

having auto lift doors on the GT II would really be cool. I can just imagine them lifting up at a gas station or restaurant and watching all the people stop and stare.

Well, it has been a while since I have posted here. I looked at this idea closely years ago when I drove the Brad regularly. I came to the conclusion that window actuators mounted inside the rear pillar would work best. I figured the motor would be on the floor with the top of the guide up nest to the roof. an extension pole would then run from the interface plate to the door. This would be a telescoping shaft with a pin through it. In case of failure all I would have to do is pull the pin and the door would be operable manually. The doors are light so the window actuator should work fine. If not though, I would add a spring from the trunk of a compact car. They would run along the roof and if they are too strong for a balance, you could grind the long shaft thinner.
