Never heard of such a thing. Especially from the factory. Pictures would help.

That's definately interesting... First thing I see is Texas, and think chopped. Twoies get really hot inside, so unless someone installed the HUGE air conditioner box like in mine, I would think this would solve someones problem. But the engine lid doesn't look like mine either. That's flush, mine V's. I think mine is funny looking but I have plans for it.
My thoughts are someone did it, that it's fab not factory, but I'm still a newb. I've seen 100's of pics, but no convertables. I think it's cool. Nice find.

They may have done it because butt sag was pulling the windshield out. Maybe they just wanted a convertable. Atleast it's not jacked up like a monster truck with a set of hornes bolted to the hood.

There is some of the rear roof sail panels left on the body so my bet is a custom job.
Its critical to build some support for that windshield when you chop the top. It is going to want to lay down on you.

jsp if you look close at that rear pix it looks like there is a tube structure running next to the windshield frame going down towards the chassis

I agree, if it didn't have stress cracks at the base of the windshield before, it certainly would the first time you took it out on the open road WITHOUT supports, it would either lay down on you or fly completly off. Chances are, if they were able to take it this far, they knew what they were doing or had a big checkbook. It looks good. It's something few if anyone has. That is what it's all about.

I see what your talking about but I don't see anything going up towards the frame or any hoop around the windshield in the other pics. Could it just be the door ledge?

I have seen this done several times over the years. Not something from the factory
