I am having a ton of trouble finding good ones! I went to autozone and found the right length but they didn't have enough pressure to even hold the door! it just fell back down. Is there a kind that has a better pressure? i need 6 of them two for each door and 2 for the back window.

Thanks much! i got MightyLift E 95851 which was great for the engine cover but didn't work for the doors and didn't bother trying the rear glass.

The specs on the 95851 are •Replaces lift supports with a 10 mm ball socket rod connector, and a 10 mm ball socket tube connector •Replaces lift supports with extended length between 13.5 In. and 14.5 In. •Replaces lift supports with a force between 20 lbs and 29 lbs Not only are they too weak for the doors they are too short. I listed the specs so you know what is required for the different applications. Superceeded listing from mighty lift www.avmind.com/apd/mightyliftuniversal.pdf

Yes thanks again i bought the E 95851 before i asked. I am going back to autozone to trade them out for the D 95211. With the previous lifts in the engine cover it would stress the fiberglass because the where to long and it would make a noise every time i opened it but with the E 95851 it stopped so i am keeping one E 95851 on the engine cover. thanks for the feedback it was a great help =)

If you live in the US just order the correct ones from McMaster Carr www.mcmaster.com/#9416k17/=nptr0i The 9416k17 is closer to spec than the 9416k16 and is available in 60lbs for the rear glass and 80lbs for the doors. 9416k17 dimensions D95211 specs, notice length {comp and extended}, tube dia and pressure all too high. Weight: 0.9 lbs Warranty: 1 YR Notes: HoodHood. Quantity per car: 2 Color / Finish: Black / Chrome Compressed Length (Connections On Center) (in): 10.14 Cylinder: Heavy Gauge Steel Cylinder End Connection / Thread: Ball Socket (Nylon) Extended Length (Connections On Center) (in): 16.03 External Cylinder Diameter (in): 0.87 Fluid Damped Action: Yes Gas: Nitrogen Installation Hardware Included: Yes Installation Instructions Included: Yes Maximum Force (lbs): 89.5 Maximum Operating Temperature (°F): 194 Minimum Force (lbs): 74.5 I know "Steve recommends D95211" but who is Steve? The McMaster ones are closest to spec. I think the D95211 will be too long compressed, too large dia to fit between the door and roof, and too strong resulting in a cracked upper door where they connect.

I have 7 door gas struts that came with two different GT2s. I have two rear windows gas struts I removed from the salvaged GT2. I have not installed them on the doors or window yet. These are not for sale just info.
All the Door struts are 14 3/8" extended, 5 7/8" stroke, 15 5/16" center of ball to ctr of ball. The rear window struts are 18 7/8'' extended, 7 7/8" stroke, 19 11/16" ctr of ball ctr of ball. I think if the door sturts were 1/4" or longer the doors would touch when both are open. So watch out for the strut length.
I tested all the struts, 4 door struts tested to 55 - 60lbs, one tested to 40lbs, and the last two tested to 30lbs. The two window struts test to 30lbs each. What the right pressure is I don't know, I'll find out when I get the doors and windows mounted.
Note - some or all of these struts over the time may have lost some of their pressure charge.

Wyn. see my first post for the pressure specs. I did see your pressures, but your struts are not the same dimensions as to length as the ones I have. I think the 4 at 55-60lbs are probably or very close to the right pressure. Wyn

I go out to the Fountain of Youth, just north of you in the Winter. Hmmm that would be the Salten Sea, (which is about as dead and stinky as any lake could possibly be)

The best lift cylinders that I have used to date and continue to use are from SPD Hardware. They can be ordered in all sorts of configurations and materials. They come in standard pressure increments but are available at any pressure you specify (within reason). I chose to utilize a near exact copy of the original but in stainless steel; I have not been disappointed, in the 3 years of use they have not leaked or lost lift. You can find them at www.spdhardware.comThis is just another option available. Thank you, Michael

FWIW when I ordered new struts from McMaster Carr I also ordered all new nylon ends for them. When I went to install them on the rear glass they are too big and won't fit. But I found the original metal ones unscrew so I blasted/painted two of the originals and used them.

If you go to ebay, a company is specializing in lift supports and you can find them by searching motors for Bradley They were like $35 for 2, and being how it's a real company, I believe them. The price isn't bad and takes the bs and guesswork out of it.

I should clarify, I haven't purchased anything from them yet, so you should probably verify from them that it's the tight ones. Pushnfords mentioned there are several weights and lengths but they look like a manufacturer so I'm sure they have everything.

You got it bud, those are the ones I'm talking about. I brought my struts into Napa, autozone and O'reilly auto parts but couldn't get anything, not even information. I found these on ebay and yes, I am sceptical buying things online, but I'm sure they do have what I'm after even if that isn't it. My car needs all of them replaced.

I've got all of the new lift supports installed...here is what I used:
Glass Hatchback: A pair of 9416K16 from McMaster Carr in a 40lb rating. I bought new plastic ends for the body side and reused two of the smaller diameter metal ends off of the old lift supports due to interference with the glass. I tried a pair with a 50lb rating but got a little bow in the glass when shutting & the body side mount brackets had a lot of flex.
Engine Cover: 9416K16 with 30lb rating. I added a small spring that is held on with the bolt mounting the striker to the door so it'll pop & raise by itself...but does it pretty gently.
Doors: 9416K16 in 80lb rating. Pretty good feel all the way through. Any longer strut & they won't fit. I think even with the original style metal ends they wouldn't fit...I used 9416K86 ends on everything except the two that attach to the rear glass due to clearance issues.
