I know we have talked about this but I searched and could not find it. I want to change to an electric pump. What does everyone use? Eric

You want a rotary style pump. I am sure Summit has something that will work. You will need a regulator as well to keep the pressures down. I would also tie it into your oil pressure switch for safety as well.
Its alot of work for no real benefit.

Can you rebuild a stock one? It takes forever to get my car started because it sits to long between trips. Eric

Well a new pump is about $30 so I don't know why you would need to rebuild an old one. You can get one just about anywhere. You just need to make sure you get the right one (depends on if you have the alternator style or the generator style as the pushrod is different).

Ok...this might sound confusing but it really is not.
There are two main types: 1. Alternator style. Used on cars equipped with an alternator. It is slightly more angled. It uses a 4" pushrod 2. Generator style. Used on cars with a generator. It is more upright and uses a 4 1/4" pushrod..
You can use either style on your engine, but you MUST use the correct pushrod. You can take a pic and post it and we can tell you or you can remove the two nuts that hold it on and remove the pushrod to measure it.

I do have an alt but I changed it. Originally it was a gen. My pump does not have a domed top on it. It is more flat with I believe two screws on the top of it. If thAt helps. It is easy enough to pull it and measure the rod.

I am forced to run a electric fuel pump do to the fact I have a 1975 engine which is fuel injected with no mech. fuel pump.... but i run carbs. I use a Holley "Red" electric fuel pump with a holley 2 port 1-4psi regulator and a Mechanical Fuel Pressure Gauge to make sure not to much pressure. I went through 2 fuel pumps before I changed to a holley. Those one's they sell on VW site's are junk! I've been running the holley for 8yrs now and not one problem.
