Hey Bob N. - question for you, since you made the Bat-Bradley-Mobile-GT wouldn't your 22lb doors be "Bat Wing Doors" instead of gullwings?
Sorry, bad joke... I couldn't help it
-On another note, this question is for everyone. Besides the interior latches, how do you lock your gull wings? I'm using a mailbox looking lock cylinder that i had to modify the latch its self to work. I'm getting tired of tearing it apart every 3 months to knock crud out of it, oil it, and put it back in. True it only takes a couple minutes, but there has to be a better way to lock the wings shut...
-Any ideas?

CCDodge:Was that a Bad Joke or a Bat Joke? anyway if you go to batdude.com/Gullwingdoors.html and scroll down to the fifth set of photos you will see a 3/8 " rod that slides back into a hole in the "T" top. It is spring loaded in the locked position. When I want to open the door I just turn the door handle up and it pulls the rod forward un locking the door. I could draw up drawings with the actual measurements if you like. Bob

*Bat Joke - good call ;-}
Thats interesting, I like it. So essentally it is simular in design and function as say a pickup topper lock or the inner workings of a tailgate. Good thinking!
I think when I get around to making 1/2 gulls I'll use this idea, but not for the full plexi wings I have now.
You did just make me think of a sloution to my lock delema anyway, get a set of pushbutton lock cylinders for toppers / tool boxes. True I wanted near flush level mount, but this would be better.

Has anyone used T-top glass from anything to make 1/2 gulls? I just saw a car being towed past my place with t-tops (i assume to the junkyard, its smashed to a pont i can't ell what it was), so I'm going to be making a run to the salvage yard this week to see what is there. Durring the winter I had seen several there, and it never crossed my mind to measure them.
If anyone HAS looked into it, what is the closest size to being usable? a little smaller would be fine, I can always add a fiberglass frame / spacer if need be.

I remember when you did the back window but forgot the t-tops, lol. So assuming that the Dautsun and Nissian are near the same size, I might know what i can get them off; there were 2 dautsuns there last time i was there, hopfully they are still there.
