Hi all, I just got this, and know absolutly nothing about it, I would like to know how to find out the year, and model. Is there a body# tag somewhere? Any info you guys can provide will be very helpfull. I plan on it being my spring project after I make some room in my shop, thanks in advance!! Attachments:

Give it back to whoever you got it from...lol.
No just kidding. They are fun. Best way would be to just go by the year of the VW pan. Body tag on mine was in the right front wheel well. If you are looking in the wheel well it would be to the left . That information on it is pretty useless as it will give you no info on the year of the body

As kitcarguy said the year of the Bradley body is really irrelevant. The chassis year is important for chassis parts and the engine year helps with engine parts.
Other than that you can call it any year you want!

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure what i want to do with it yet, I'm tossing around the idea of making a baja runner out of it, but kind of reluctant of modifying the body because I'm not sure if it has any value and would hate to cut up a collector kit car, any thoughts on this? anyone interested in the body tub if I choose to go full baja and use a different body?? any comments are greatly appreciated, thanks!

It has no collector value. I have seen bare GT bodies going for as little as $150. Do whatever you want to it.

I can't believe what I just read... NO VALUE? Why there are a couple of bodies for sale in California from $300 to $600 right now... up to 4 x that $150 remark. My Bradley brings me loads of pleasure in building and driving it around. People can't take their eyes off of it. Chick magnet too.
oh... I get it... no COLLECTOR value. Being an owner of a Bradley myself, it was purely for the fun of building it and driving it, not to collect it. However, that being said, there is a guy posting on this site looking to collect a red color GT 1...

I have bought, rebuilt, and re-sold several different kits. The pure joy is building them the way you want to. If the car had any "collector" value that would be suicide for the value. The Bradley is not that uncommon. It is one of the better looking base kits but that doesn't make it into a collectors item. Neither does someone wanting to add it to a "collection". And the prices you see are the asking prices. Bare shells (no pany, no tranny, no doors, no rear windows) rarely go for $600. Maybe slightly more than $150, but my post did say I had seen them for "as little as" $150. washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/pts/3579448172.htmlYou are one step ahead of most people...you are actually driving yours. Many people don't get that far. Enjoy it for what it is.

I can't believe a car that has such a low # of wouldn't be collectable. ( gt2) is it just because its a kit

Rarity does not equal collectability. The market is small for these cars and the supply is relatively plentiful. They were very basic kits (The GTs) for their time. The GTII were more refined but didn't really have a huge "wow" factor.
My Meyers Manx dunebuggy sold for more money than my Sterling, my Kelmark, or my Avenger. Manxs have a much larger market than any of those kits. My Manta sold for some serious money too as there is a very strong market for those cars.

wow! sounds like i struck a nerve about the car being a collector or not. but my real decision is about making a "baja runner" out of the Bradley. has anyone ever heard, seen one done?

I ended up trading it for a dually and some cash. I have another body sitting at my track that I could not give away for $200 . The GT is not all that rare and IMO not that desirable. I see them for sale all the time.

Lets not forget that people are dumping their toys in this bad economy, that lowers the value of most items including Bradley's

Welcome Jesse, where do you hang your hat, you might be in an area where a member can come by & help you out. To identify the VW year you can get the vin # from the rear hump- center where the back seat would have been, good luck with your ideas the best part of these kits are that you can modify it any way your imagination wants to take it. Go to Google under "images" put in Bradley gt and see all the creations....

No nerve at all. Just offering more of a detailed explanation since the question was ongoing. Corvair power? You are missing a couple of cylinders Big Bird...

So would Liberace's Bradley GT be considered a collector's item? I would think a collectors item is a matter of opinion. One man's trash is another man's collector's item. Just my opinion. And yes I'm looking to add the right Bradley GT to a collection of 50 other rare and collector's item cars.

Like I said before, in my opinion (and everyone can have one), just because one person might collect something doesn't make it a collectors item in the broadest sense.
Liberace's Bradley might be sought after by a collector of Liberace's items. Clearly there is a market for Liberace items. That makes them collectable. If Liberace owned a glass door knob there might be a market for it. That does not make all glass doorknobs collector items.
The original question was would the poster be hurting the collectability value of a bare Bradley body by converting it to offroad machine. Bradley bodies aren't that rare, there isn't a huge market for them. and while there is a faithful small following, they remain very very affordable.

Jim The engine is in the back facing forward & it's a Mid Engine! But what's the blue bottle behind the dist? Looks like it's drawing Vac into the bottom of the Carb?

Skip, Thats a great question. I was thinking the same thing! as you can see that pic was back in 2001. For the life of me I can't remember what it did. The picture was taken when I first got the car home. Back then I didn't take many pics of my builds. Usually just some "before" and "after" pics.

Lots of inspiration and, I'm sure, perspiration! Well done guys! Jim

I have had those wheels for years so your are safe. They are 1 of 3 sets (different style) that will be going on my Deserter this spring.
Not sure which set though. Although those have just perfect big/little sizing.
