That yellow one is mine. I bought it last year from Dennis for $2k. It is waiting to be rebuilt. I'm working on a '55 Chevy pickup right now.
I also have a Porsche Laser 917 that I picked up three weeks ago.
The Aquila doesn't need much. It has a VW engine for now. I'm not sure which direction I'm going in with that. It has full interior everything. It just needs some slight modifications.

Very nice Aquila. I cant wait to get my Kellison Astra GT. I have already bought a car cover for it. It is a matter of getting the car shipped to me here in Montana. Wally(the guy I bought it from) is very nice & is working with me to get the car to me. Very hard to find anyone willing to travel to Montana, this time of year, transport quotes have been outrageous. I am sure I will get the car soon.

I thought your Astra was getting picked up on December 12th?

Everything was arranged for that date. While moving the car into position to be loaded, the throttle cable broke & the driver of the transport was a single driver. The car became a non-operational car & the truck driver would not take the car. Anyhow, Wally is fixing the car & is arranging to bring it to me.

That sucks. Hopefully it won't take too much longer. Hopefully Wally isn't paid in full. Sometimes that has tendency to sloooow things down.

I called him today. He is coming out to Montana in January & will be towing the car here. He has to pick up some equipment for his company, at the Canadian border & will haul the Kellison Astra GT here. I am supposed to meet him somewhere here in Montana. He said maybe the 7th or the middle of January. Yes, the car is all paid for. I got it for 5k, I saved over 1k off from Wally's asking price on the samba listing. So it is a good deal that I got.

Thats a long time to have someone you don't know have $5k of your money. Where is Wally coming from that Montana is between him and Canada?
I just had a Cayenne shipped from Chicago and I was getting nervous when they had my cash for two days!
Hopefully it will all work out for you this time.

Wally is in Port Republic, Maryland. Not sure if the equipment is from Calgary or Edmonton or another city. It was bank to bank transaction, everything will be alright. I am glad that he is coming to Montana with the car, the weather is always a factor, this time of year. I'll just drive it carefully the rest of the way to Missoula, as it has summer tires & not all season tires on the car. He is going through the car now & is going to put new gas in the car & have it running nice. It is powered by a 2180cc vw engine.

This sounds like your last try at buying a car sight un seen. Good luck.

Sounds similar, but I am not ready to put every person I have auto transactions with..into the category of scumbags. Although, I am starting to hate east coast car sellers..wish more west coast peeps had the type of cars I am interested in. It is what it is.

I'd be more concerned why he still hs his "For Sale" ad on the Samba after having all your money.
I can understand it if he just had a verbal committment from you but once he received payment in full he should remove the ad.

The car is no longer in the show condition that I paid for. Wally used photos of the car, from when it was still in show car condition, when he advertised it on thesamba. I feel a bit upset & that he mislead me. However, I can fix the car & make it nice again. Right now, I am replacing the clutch cable & accererator cable. Then, I will drain the old gas & go through the fuel system. I am busy unbolting the seats & then I will clean the floor pans & put the carpet & seats back in. Plus, I must re-route some electrical wires. They are running the length of the pan, on the passenger side to the battery. When I got the car, there was no oil in the engine. I am able to turn it over by hand, but I dont know if it will run yet. I will remove the coil center wire & crank the starter & move some oil within the engine, before I try & start it.

Yeah, I seem to have trouble when buying kit cars. The main problem is I have to take peoples' word for the accuracy of the car. It is very expensive to fly to the east coast from Missoula Montana, so I have bought some kit cars sight unseen. I feel I can fix the Kellison Astra GT & make it nice. But yeah, it pisses me off, when I get mislead & a car isnt in the condition as advertised. I will take some pics tomorrow & upload them.

The aquila molds and car are not worth anything near what is being asked of them. I do not care what anyone says. There is no market to resurrect the car (And I have always liked the Aquila) and there where not enough of them built to make a go at replacement parts for them.
With that being said, some sucker will purchase them with the big dream of building these cars, and we will see the molds for sale again in the future

A tip to future buyers. If you must rely on photos ask for one with the current newspaper in it, or some way of proving when the photo was taken.

And always ask for a picture under the dash. Wiring will be the best indicator of build quality. If they take the time to do the wiring right then they take the time to build the car right.
