Yeah, I guess you're right. The defrost works great for maintaining a defrosted windshield, but its terrible for initially defrosting the windshield. Most nights I just ended up wiping down the windshield with a towel, which I really hate to do :/
Now I'm wondering if I should do what your car's previous owner did; my tires will sometimes rub right in front of the foot vent so it will be hard finding a speaker placement. Does the defrost alone heat up the c ockpit pretty well?

The factory dash and def vents are stock VW bus vents. You could seal off your foot vents with them. When I installed the Subaru I deleted the side tubes. I installed a heater core inside the stock fresh air box and connected all 4 vents to the air box. Hot cold is controlled by an electric vacuum switch to redirect hot water flow. Heat/def is controlled by manually opening/closing vents. I have no issues with tire rub. This winter I hope to install my AC evap in the air box as well.
Having no floor vents does not seem to be a problem as all the heat still enters the car.

Oh, that's right, you dropped in a different engine. Yeah, I'm not sure why I have tire rub, I figured when I fixed my front suspension it would have also solved the tire rub issue. All the heat would still enter the car, but heat rises so who knows how warm it will be by the feet. I'm used to running heat in the foot vent in any car so it would be less comfortable for me, but I would like to have a better running defrost.
What if I were to mount my front speakers directly in the front (by the brake master cylinder and other side of frame tunnel)? Is the front end also considered a "firewall" making this a terrible area to mount the speakers? Can anyone think of any good reasons not to mount the speakers there?

By adding the extra bus vents you can direct where the heat goes. Speakers under dash pointing downward.

Stereo Placement: I placed my stereo in the glove box area. It is recessed about an inch and a half which allows me to still close the glove box door over my stereo when I am not using it. I constructed a mounting bracket out of some plexi glass; I forget the width, but it was fairly thick plexi. This was the initial cutout, and then I used a torch to heat and bend in the tabs that will ultimately glue to the back of the dash. I used gureilla glue to glue the bracket to the back of the dash because the expansion takes care of the imperfections in how flush the bracket is. Rear 6X9s: I ended up placing my 6X9s in the area around were mj placed his. You can see that the hole goes directly in the the rear wheel wells so I needed to use baffles. I sealed around the baffles and sprayed rubberized undercoat around the whole setup. I epoxied the plastic lip around the 6X9's baffle to the fake leather interior in order to keep the interior behind the speaker. The reason I chose this placement for the 6X9s is because the tweeters are nearly directly tilted towards the person sitting on the opposite side of the car. Front 6.5's: I placed my front 6.5s pretty much right where Dan has his placed, and copied the idea of routing PVC to the defrost. The foot well does stay a bit cooler than the rest of the car, but it's not that bad. The defrost works MUCH BETTER now that all the air is going straight to it. I also sealed the 6.5'sbaffles in the back and sprayed everything down with rubberized undercoat. The sidewall carpet was installed by the original owner before he let the Bradley sit for 20-30 years so it all crumbled apart when I tried to cut the holes in it for the speaker. I will eventually replace it Thanks for all the help everyone.

Will your rear tires clear the speaker enclosures? Looks great, How is the sound?
How on earth do you put a passenger in the back?

How on earth do you put a passenger in the back? Haha, I mean the tweeters are tilted towards the person on the opposite side of the car in the two front seats. So 6X9 behind driver is pointed toward passenger, 6X9 behind passenger is pointed towards driver. Yeah, the tires clear it, but it's very close. I have these spacers on my back tires (not sure if this was native for the kit) so my rear tires actually stick out the fenders about half an inch. So even if the baffles didn't clear the tires, the fender would stop it from hitting the baffle, but after fixing my suspension and replacing shocks the tires stay clear from everything. The sound is good, but the bass produced isn't too low because the baffles prevent the speaker's cone from moving too far. The speakers produce a good thump though.

So I found the Radio for the person who wants some tunes for the open road! I have been looking for a small radio for my car that I am not having to cut a huge hole in the dash and fab some crazy bracket and I found it... www.sharkmotorcycleaudio.com Has lots of cool setups for about the same as you would pay for a conventional stereo. Here is a link to see it in action youtu.be/ctwX8m7Jy3sDo you see it? It is that little black square next to my rear view moniter! It comes with FM, usb port, I phone spot and a place Sim card This little gray box runs the whole thing. The one I got comes with these two chrome cone speakers! I have them tucked under the dash mounted on two windshield bolts. You can run it threw some kind of eq and give you great sound with more speakers very easily but me I love the open road and listing to the humm of the engine with w little Miller playing in the back ground.

33's the only place that true sound quality exists. Even the silence between tracks is music. This digital stuff we have now is crap.
