Another project to add to the power window project. I'm going to mount remote control mirrors at the front corner of the door window glass, but I need away to attach it to the window corner. I made a cardboard mockup of the adapter I will need. The adapter will mount in behind the fiberglass of the door with 3 screws in the bottom edge and 3 in the top edge. There is a small slot in the door at that location. With a little triming of the edge, this metal adapter will mount and still have room for the glass to mount too. I need some way to paint the glass so the back side of the adapter will not be sean through the glass. How all I need is to get two pices of sheet metal cut and bend to match the cardboard adapter. I think I'll get 3 sheets because I know I'll probably screw the first one up. ;D Wyn

Might be easier and stronger to remove the glass and build up the area of the opening with fiberglass to mount the mirror to. Then have new glass cut from as1 flat glass. I could not find the large window glass for my gt2 so I had some cut from as1 flat. only slight filler needed along the front edge of the door window opening, in the area of where you want the mirror. As1 is windshield glass and cuts easily. Stock door glass is tempered and impossible to cut.
As for painting the glass. Get some glass etching paste to roughen up the outside and paint on the outside so the inside is the perfect tint.

You know me, Fiberglass is the way to go, outside & inside. You could make a metal plate for the inside to match & cover it up.
