Here is the best deal going that I could find on door and hatchback struts for my Bradley GTll. Go to this address: www.mcmaster.com/#gas-springs/=juj6wzI am using #4138T55, 40 lb force on the hatchback. I am using #4138T55, 90 lb force on the doors. My doors are heavier than normal because I have built them up to hold the Chevy van 60/40 pop out side windows as sun roofs. On a normal Bradley door, the 60 lb strut might be better. The extended length is 15.24" and the stroke is 5.47. These struts have the correct 3/4" diameter AND they ony cost $14.47 each + about $5 to $10 shipping. Hope this info will help some of you. It is a great deal unless you live in Canada. They will not ship to a private person, only to one of their preferred dealers.

Gregory What kind of hinge did you use on your hood? I need to cut mine out, but have not come up with a hinge for it. Wyn

I used 2 kitchen cupboard hinges {blum 170deg full overlay clip top hinges} glassed onto the hood and the front of the fresh air box. Hinges allow some adjustment. Hood can be easily removed.

Wyn, It looks like Dan has a good fix for you. I fabricated my hinges from flame cut 1/4" steel plate. I was almost ready to cut the second piece when I realized that I had a gas tank going in later on. That is when I put the little upswing curve in the passenger side hinge arm. When I did away with the louvers in the hood area, I glassed pre threaded 1/4" straps into the hood and body for bolting the assembly together. It is very rigid. If you want to go to this extreme, I will try to figure out how to post a series of photos. Here is one for now. Gregory Whitney Attachments:

I'm thinking of puting the hinge on the front side. That way the hood latch will mount on the front simulated AC vent. When installing the evaporator unit the conecting hose back to the compressor came out too far to the front of the evap unit so it would not fit, I had to cut a slit in the front of the air box to get the hose and evap unit to fit in the air box. I need to make a cover for that opening. I have seen where some installers of the AC units have put the Condenser unit under the rear cargo shelf of the VWs, so that is where I have place mine. I made a carbonfiber shell for the condenser coil and mounted a Lexis radator fan into the shell. Wyn
