I'm getting closer to finishing my gt which had previously never been mounted on a chasis. The next step is to install the steering column. The book said to shorten the steering column by 2 inches but there aren't any photos. I'm I over thinking this or do I simply cut down the 2" pipe by 2" with a pipe cutter? I did lower the pan by 3". Will this effect the geometry of the steering column? Any description or photos would help me greatly.

Yes lowering will affect it. The box mounting clamp can be put on in two different ways. One way is for a beetle. Flipping it is for a ghia which has a lower column.

Not sure how "lowering the pan" (I am assuming you mean dropping the pan for added headroom) changes the geometry?
I think the Bradley dash position may require a rotation of the box and therefore a slight change in geometry, but dropping the pans should have no effect.
Test fit the column. It all depends on the year of the column and how you want it set up. I believe in a GT there is a pretty hefty mount that attaches to the front wall.
