Anyone have any experience using the AA brand pistons & cylinders?
I had an unfortunate incident where my alternator seized and of course engine overheated the result-- broken & seized rings on #3 & #4.
Klaus at the shop says lower end is ok and heads are fine, but need new pistons & cyls. - - Guess I'm lucky at that I was running Brad Penn racing oil which tends to hold up at higher temps.
My finances are a disaster right now and the Mahle pistons are about $400
Any thoughts?

Hi Mike, I don't know anything about AA brand pistons and cylinders. In fact I've never even heard of them before. But I have the Cima-Mahle cylinder/piston kits in mine and they have performed flawlessly. The pistons were moly-graphite coated and I installed them with Teflon buttons on the wrist pins. And I used the rings that came with the kits, but have heard a lot of good things about the "total seal" gap-less top rings. IMHO this would not be a good area to "economize" in. You usually get what you pay for! At least that's been my experience. Gary Hammond,

Thanks Gary, I spoke to Chico out on the west coast and he said he's been using the AA's for the last 6 years in his motors, they're made in China and a lot of people supposedly like them especially since the Mahles have skyrocketed in price.
Now someone said they're being made in China. I'm just trying to find out if anyone here has used them and has a report

I am using AA pistons and cylinders in my GT. I have only about 150miles on them now but no problems yet. I have not gone beyond 65mph as my last engine locked up tight at 70mph so im a little skittish. I bought mine from texasaircooled.com. It took a few weeks to get them but i am more than satisfied with the quality.
