hey guys, has anyone ever thought about using a mid 90's chrysler v6 and trans instead of a subby. the engines are longitudinal and the axles come out of the trans near the front ( just aft of the bell housing). what do you think?

Too high, raises CG [affects handling] and blocks rear window. The Subi is about 1" below the bottom of the window. Any FWD can be made to work but will have different problems to work out.

Yes I have. Flipping the ring gear on any tranny with dual side plates is easy. If used in a mid eng app with normal rotation engine the crown and pinion are now wearing on the coast side (much weaker), if used as rear engine with a backwards engine (Corvair or Honda) everything inside the tranny is running backwards except the crown and pinion. What are your plans?
You are better off using the trans the engine was made for and going mid engine. Less headaches and more reliable.

Build it stock. When you have accomplished that then make it better.
