With all the carbs out there which setup on a stock 1600 do. Would you guys recommend

With all the carbs out there which setup on a stock 1600 do. Would you guys recommend Solex (AKA: Kadrons). They are the most reasonably priced, come jetted properly for 1600, are reliable, and are easy to install with the engine in the car. See them here: vwparts.aircooled.net/Dual-34mm-PDSIT-Solex-Carb-Kit-Dual-Port-p/3285.htmOnly one warning - it is impossible to over-rev a stock ACVW engine because the stock carb acts as a limiter - it just can't breath enough. However with the Kadrons, that limitation goes away and you can easily blow the engine by over-winding it. I can, and do live with that with pleasure. ;D

Thanks for the info what is the suggested rpm range for a stock 1600 ac

Hi, Anything over 4500 rpm with a stock crankshaft will pound out the center main bearing saddles and ruin the crankcase. You need a counter-weighted crankshaft for any sustained rpm above 4500. Gary Hammond,
