I had my Bradley insurance threw a small local company that recently was bought out by a big name company (who I am not going to name). The new company says they cannot insure assembled cars, dunebuggys, blaa blaa blaa. Bottom line being, I have 2 weeks left of my policy before I have to have a new company. I've done some checking around, and most companys also don't offer insurance for assembled cars.
Anyone have suggestions?

Hagerty. I pay $95 a year unlimited mileage. No hassle at all with it being a kit car. Very friendly and helpful. Eric A.

I also have State Farm, they seem to be the only conventional insurance company which will insure kit cars without much hassle. There are a couple of specialty insurance companies (such as Hagerty) that are available. Warmest....

I found a company that has someone who can get me Hagerty ins. for about 3/4 what state farm can do, and about 1/2 what I was paying! I like the fact they want photos of what it looks like Inside and out, motor ect, instead of saying what do you have, I'm sorry we can't help you... Thanks guys!

I currently have 2 Bradley GT II E cars; both are insured with AAA (CSAA) for a total yearly cost of $77 each. The replacement value they are insured for is $6,000. No hassles, just walked in and less than 10 minutes later I was out the door. They just asked me the coverage levels I wanted, no issues with it being a kit car.

GEICO, bundled with other vehicles. Economic enough to carry it for few years; being renewed every 6 months .

USAA, bundled with other vehicles. They even allowed me to go higher since I have a $5K battery pack in my converted GT II to electric.

I think that all of the boneheaded insurance laws in Michigan are why I'm having issues finding a good deal. So far Hagerty seems the best, but I'm still looking since I have a few days left. I'll be calling AAA and Gieco monday... It would be weird to have a bumper sticker of a talking lizard.

I was digging thru the PILE of bradley literature I have and finally found that quote about the insurance company crash tests.lol "The Bradley GT is a kit of un- equaled quality......quality that obviously impressed one of the nation's largest auto insurance companies when they conducted strength tests on the Bradley GT and a Detroit made fiberglass car. As a result of those tests, the Bradley GT carries the same insurance rating as an ordinary American metal bodied sedan (that Detroit fiberglass car costs three to five times as much to insure" P4. of the big brochure I mentioned that I had read that(on the old board) and everyone thought I was a nut.lol

Just for any future reference...
I insured my car through AAA, just a few questions and it was insured 3XX a year; no questions was asked if it was kit car or not.
My tire blew out one night so I called AAA, they sent out a tow truck but I couldn't be towed because it was not a flatbed and the company had no flatbed available; the driver told me I had to go commercial and left. Strike one against AAA
So I finally get a flatbed out to take me home, $75. The driver told me to send the receipt to AAA and get reimbursement since the people I'm paying to take care of my car couldn't take care of it. So we send the receipt to AAA and ask for a reimbursement. They essentially replied with, "All four tires were blown out and the vehicle was modified so we will not reimburse your money."
Well apparently the AAA servicing tow company in my area claimed all four tires were blown out when I clearly showed the driver the ONE tire that was blown out. Strike two against AAA
My car is modified?! well if by modified you mean a kit car then why the crap was that question never asked when insuring the car?! If they are going to be such sticklers about little details like that then make sure you get that covered in the beginning rather than when your customer is in need. Strike three against AAA
So pretty much what happened is AAA couldn't help the paying customer due to lack of equipment. When the paying customer asks them to right the wrong, they make up ridiculous technicalities to not right the wrong. Who knows what would go down if I had hit a car and incurred thousands of dollars in damage. Switching to a new company now which is why I'm reading through this thread.

I am going through Allstate and paying through the nose for it . Because mine has an owner constructed title Hagerty won't touch it (been with them for 15 years ). Since I am retired there isn't a need for a newer daily driver and that limits the options. To think nobody would take this for my daily driver lol But it is and Hargerty covers it no problem !

I am insured with Grundy Worldwide. My policy is for Collector Car Ins. and costs me less than $300 a year with a $20,000 agreed upon value. Greg Attachments:
