MyGt2 may be in need of a starter motor, I've seen a few posts recommending the autostick starter. Advance Auto has the Bosche rebuilt for $119.00 (one year warranty) new Bosche for $180.00 ( lifetime warranty) My Chassis and trans are '70 will the autostick starter work in my set-up without any mods?

Thanks JSP, I'll check on it tomorrow It looks like the local "zone" down here has to special order it but that's not a prob. Is this the high torque one?

This is one that I have used in my last 3 or 4 projects. It is alot nicer then the stock one. You will be pleased.
Most AutoZone's don't stock them but they can usually get them over night.

Actually, as far as hi-torque goes, it is and it isn't... it IS a higher torque output than the stock (stick) unit, but nearly what you get out of a gear reduction unit. The really big advantage over the stick model is it does not require an independent starter bushing, so you never have to mess with changing a worn out one of those again, ever. Remember to check the resistance of your battery and ground cables and straps, as corrosion takes it's inevitable toll, causing an amperage bottleneck that will lead to changing batteries and starters FAR more often than you actually need to. Good luck and enjoy... :-)

Whenever I use the autostick type starter I always install a new bushing even though it is not used. That way if I need a starter when on a trip I can go back to the manual one if the auto type is not available.
